I recently picked up 2 twist n go ls49 scooters. These have been sitting for a while in my grandparents shed, I got them home and started in on them trying to get them back running. Cleaned carbs, cleaned fuel pumps, cleaned tanks the whole 9 yards. Fresh batteries. I then try to start the first one and I have air , I have fuel but no spark. I did some digging around and decided to order a coil and CDI off amazon. Got them in and tested for spark with plug out and got great spark. Put the plug in and fires instantly. Let it idle for about 10 seconds and it dies. Pull the plug and no spark. Let it sit for a bit with out doing anything to it and it will regain spark and run for another 10 second. I changed back to the stock coil and same condition. I can replicate this all day long. After it sits it's fine and starts perfect and runs for 10 seconds. I'm at a bit of a loss and came to you guys here on the forum for some guidance. I'm really itching to ride atleast one of these things! Could the CDI I bought be faulty? Or am I missing something. It does have an alarm but I followed the guide and just have the dark green and green from the main harnes jumperes together at the moment. Kill switch is in plugged altogether so it is not in the system.

first thought is pilot jet is clogged... as when you let its sit the choke resets its self, runs on choke circuit then cant pull thru the pilot jet as the choke circuit closes. second is a float level condition where it cant supply enuf fuel and starves itself out. could be pump or float seat issue. look there first

So the choke controls spark? My problem is electrical not fuel related.

The CDI would be a good place to start. Cheap after market CDI's are not known for their reliability.

If you have tried different CDI's and coils and they both did the same thing, next try a new stator.
Did you try taking the alarm out of the picture ?

Got it!! It was the stator. Yes the alarm is out of the picture. Eliminated that so no future problems stem from it. Thanks for the help guys
