The only PWK type carbs I've never had trouble tuning were genuine Keihin. I've had a Stage6 and Polini 21mm and 24mm and could never get them just right. With carbs I believe you get what you pay for. You can't go wrong with a 21mm PHBG. Parts are aplenty and cheap. They can be tricky to tune at first but once you understand it's functions you'll understand it better. The original oko, maybe current ones not sure, had leaky jet block gaskets causing air leaks within the carbs which made for difficult tuning. Yes the gasket can be replaced but I think the phbg is a better small mm carb.

The original oko, maybe current ones not sure, had leaky jet block gaskets causing air leaks within the carbs which made for difficult tuning. This issue has long since been rectified. I run a 24mm OKO in my Aero 80, and it's been painless and jets are plentiful... this being said ryan_ott is correct that a PHBG has a wider window of tunability. Our PHBG's are only 19mm at the moment. www.partsforscooters.com/PFS-Home/Arreche-CarburetorsSomething to keep in mind, low cost OKO's are usually Chinese knock offs. Many of those WILL cause issues. There are only a handful of people who import authentic OKO in the US. Matt

Also worth mentioning the PHBG will work with the stock airbox much easier then the PWK. The PWK with an airbox will require a 1-7/8, 90 degree coupler and some plumbing parts.

Normally with a PWK you'll end up going with some kind of pod filter, which can make tuning even more challenging. Matt

I plan on using just a pod filter. Are the deltoro copies worth a damn? I know you get what you pay for but sometimes copies work just as good.

The clones are fine once you confirm they have correct 2T components inside. If you search google for Sherryberg eBay dellorto you'll find a nice write up with what's needed to make it comparable to a real dellorto.

I have used a 26mm OKO fake with powerjet. took a while for me to figure it out, but the powerjet is lovely at WOT. I use a 28mm OKO on my 54mm bore, with a tea strainer mesh between the carb mouth and the Bell Mouth stack. I made an aluminum plate that splits the carb mouth into 2 sections. So much easier to tune with the plate installed.

Lots of good information, however, you are planning on a 21mm carb on a 103cc engine? Seems very small to me, although I do not tune or build many stock/OEM spec engines. I have a modified 49cc engine running a 21mm carb. It is not uber extreme either, but designed for top end only. I would think a 103cc, even in mild tune, would bring about 10 to 12 hp. A 21mm can be tuned, if power is that low, but you may have to replace all internal brass components. That adds up to extra cost and possibly lots of tuning time. Good research will save you time and money.

With carbs I believe you get what you pay for. There is no such thing as a genuine Keihin pwk21 or pwk24. Keihin only builds 28, 33, 35, 36, 38 and 39mm PWK carbs. Yes alot of stuff out there isn't what it says cast into it. I've spoken with OKO as well as Keihin, and they both have people selling fakes. Yes the original guys who copied Keihin have guys copying their carbs..
