Hey everyone, forum has been very helpful! I picked up a pair of vino's, one a 2003 2 stroke 50 and a 2006 125.
This is a question about the 2 stoke, what gram rollers for a little more top speed? The scoot was slow when i got it, 30mph, but started quickly and my wife liked the style and color combo brown and beige with chrome.
I have derestricted the exhaust, good for 5mph, took the washer off the variator, good for another 5mph, now we are at 40mph!
My current rollers are 5grams. I swear this scooter get to 30mph quicker than the 125 vino, so it runs well, revs clean.
What gram rollers for this little guy? Or should I keep my rollers and put a slightly taller rear tire on, 90/90 or 100/90, I think the motor could turn it. Hoping to get close to 45mph
I also changed the spark plug, cleaned up the air filter and fresh gear oil.
Thanks for any ideas, I do value reliability, so bbk was not first on list.

If the belt is worn, a new one should help the top end a bit. 40 is pretty good for a stock vino. A pipe would get you some extra top end too. 5 gram weights sound about right.

I'm happy with how it rides, soooo light! I still think I could put a larger rear tire for a couple mph's

Hey I do a lot of work on these bikes. The cheapest way to get more speed is to take the snorkel out of the airbox with your derestricted exhaust you should put a 68 main jet and make your idle a little more rich. That will cost you about $10 for a jet or less if you get it local. You will better low end torque and speed. Next I HIGHLY recommend the Polini Hi-Speed variator with 6g Dr. Pulley slider weights. I am about 180 lbs this combo gets me about 48 mph+. You'll spend about $80 for the variator and weights. The Polini likes the slider weights. You can also use the sliders in the stock variator but the Polini is such a good mod I wish I did 2 years earlier than I did.
On a side note, if you can turn a wrench you can do a very moderate 70cc kit and be in the low 50s mph range. Obviously you need to upjet with that mod substantially. I run the stock airbox and exhaust on all 4 of the vinos I have owned and I prefer that combo over an aftermarket pipe for the hills where I ride.

Fun topic for me, as I am in the same boat! Our Vino was bone stock when we picked it up. It would barely hit 30 restricted with my 250lb ass on it. For $100 it now does 45 on flat ground and climbs hills like a champ. The best mod ever was going to a 3x10 front and rear tire! It somehow (magically) lost zero acceleration, but gained 6-7 MPH top speed. I put a cheap $60 (delivered) eBay expansion chamber on it, which gave much more top speed, but lost a ton of bottom end power (now up to 43mph) Lastly I messed with rollers, clutch and contra springs. After a bit of experimenting, I hit a really amazing sweet spot, and the bike flys! It seems to always be in the power (about 8k) uphill, on the flat, and into the wind. After messing with several, I used a Malossi yellow contra spring and Leo Vince blue clutch spring and after messing with many, turned my rollers all the way down to 2.6g on the lathe. I also drilled several holes in the cover as the clutch/variator performance seemed to deteriorate quickly with heat. This made it very consistent.
Two caveats: The eBay pipe was shit, and did not fit at all. Fortunately I am a welder. It had to be cut into three pieces and welded back to fit. It also had a pieceof pipe shoved in at one of the welds to align the pieces, then was welded so hot, it nearly had plugged the pipe completely with weld. Next, I am sure everyone will say running 2.6 gram rollers is absurd, but I kept going lighter and it kept getting better. I tried the heavier contra spring, as I thought it would allow heavier weights, but again, it liked the light ones🙄
Hope this is of some help.
