Hello! I am fairly new to owning a Jog, it is apparently a real pain to find parts for. The fact that it has a vertical style Minarelli engine really throws a wrench in things. Even if I can find parts that would have worked, they seem to be discontinued. Is there anyone with more experience here, that might know where to get aftermarket parts? I am looking to stay as inexpensive as I can, but not looking to build a dud either. So far I have a Koso variator and slightly heavier than stock rollers coming. I am mostly building this scooter for leisure / travel, top speed and street driving are most important to me; more so than ridiculous torque. The main things I would like leads on obtaining are: -Big Bore (70cc) kit - preferably around 100-150, but if another kit would be a much better choice I might be able to justify a bit higher price tag. -Aftermarket Exhaust - something that would be good for the big bore kit. I have a hartmd time paying more for a pipe than a cylinder kit, but I am also not interested in blowing up my new cylinder. Inexpensive would be great, but whatever you can recommend will have to work. -Bigger carburetor - I have heard conflicting arguments on necessity, some say you need a bigger one and some say just up jetting the carb would be plenty. Opinions?
Even if you just have a suggestion on which pipe or kit, feel free to put in your two cents. But a link to compatible recommended parts would be amazing; every time I seem to hear of a part that would work I either can't find it or it is discontinued where I do. I am in the US, for shipping reference. Thank you for any help you can provide to me!

I've got a variated vertical jog motor to transplant into my chain drive vertical razz. I think prebug cranks and cylinders fit. I don't think the short case horizontal gears fit, they might but they are not a drop in. An intake that uses horizontal reed block will help a lot. I would go with a mxs cylinder in sport or racing. Pig used one on his prebug and it is a good looking cylinder.
Another option would be a short case horizontal transplant. If you go that route I would look for the 5bm cases that some jogs and most vino used. They have a factory trench and angled reed block. Plus you can get up gears for them

I like the look of both street/stealth pipes they should bolt straight on and not be restrictive I have a street pipe on my CS50 commuter and it,s good, have you checked the piston pin size on the Athena kit,I have looked at birdmans jog build and tsimi,s very long thread and they have both swapped in a horizontal so you may be breaking new ground here. You will HAVE TO up jet with the bbk.Have you got the motor running in stock set up?.Pay close attention to the wrist pin clips they are so easy to get wrong it,s painful and costly. Geoff( I have to go in now the dog and wife are calling) But go premix now not after

Someone else stated specifically they put the same kit I purchased, (https://www.amazon.com/Athena-070100-Diameter-Aluminum-Cylinder/dp/B00LMDSUW4) on a CE50 - same thing I have - in the reviews. So that was definitely a bid of confidence for that. I appreciate the advice on the wrist pin -- had one cause damage before on my dirtbike when assembled incorrectly. I don't intend to go premix fully, more like a combination of premix and injection (adding a bit in with the fuel as well as letting the injector do its' thing). The motor runs fine stock, with no modifications whatsoever I can get it ripping about 40-45 according to the speedometer.

Okay, next up in making this reliable is, I'd think, finding an intake. I don't feel a larger carb is necessary quite yet, but then again I'm rather novice to 2-stroke setups and modification. Any opinion on either of these? www.ebay.com/itm/401309323361www.scooterswapshop.com/collections/intakes/products/stage6-big-valve-intake-zuma-verticalI'd prefer the cheaper of the two, but of course if the extra 30 bucks would be a wise investment I might go that route. I don't know much about how various reed blocks would affect performance, or exactly how they work (I have a 'general understanding' of what they do, but not too much more) so your input would be appreciated!

Those are the good intakes. The stage 6 will work with stock/del carbs and the big flat slides the other one is for the bigger carbs only. I would go with the stage 6 myself but depends what you want for a carb

The eBay intake isn't bad, but it's not perfect either. I own it. I don't trust the cheap looking Reed block that came with it, I've heard of cheap ones shattering and destroying your engine when the metal reeds get sacked into the motor. But they use the same Reed block pattern/shape as a kx65 or kx80 so you can get real nice Reed blocks for it, like v-force or Boyeson stuff. I'm running a aluminum rad valve from boyeson, pretty cool looking. Also, you may have to clean up the mating surfaces before you put it together to help seal it up.
The stage 6 one looks cool because it uses horizontal mina reeds, and therefore opens up the options for positioning the carb with additional pieces. I've noticed on my prebug that the eBay manifold puts my carb at a slight downward angle causing a slight leak from the carbs. Pwk carbs like to be leaned backwards not forwards, and whenever it sits on the stand it has a little drop from the carb. This is made worse if you use an on/off/reserve style petcock instead of a stock vacuum operated one.

Geoff: I am hitting 45 near-stock, with no aftermarket. No, I have no intent to stop there -- where I live, all roads are 55mph with few exceptions; and while I can legally drive my scooter on the side of the road (it 'maaaay' still be registered as a 30mph vehicle ) it'd be highly unsafe to rip down the side of the road at 45 with the condition the road is in, and just about as dangerous to ride on the road at that speed with the morons that I share it with. Thank you for your input, but it's not at all what I need. Benji: Cool, I didn't realize about the vert/horizontal design's reeds. Any idea what might be a good carb to match to either of those? That's kinda where I become lost, selecting a carb seems a bit daunting; especially if the electric auto-choke is an important feature (which I am not at all certain of). As for the link, absolutely -- I hope others can get information from this thread just as I will, and have from others. I actually got it significantly cheaper, 'maybe' -- we'll find out in a few hours. There was one listed as 'used' for 80 bucks, and the further info stated 'packaging damaged, cosmetic defect on <10% of product', and shipped by Amazon; so I'm expecting it may have been something that was damaged in the amazon warehouse. Here's to hoping it's all there and just a bit scuffed. If not, there's always more. So, to reiterate where I'm at, I have the following coming: -Tecnigas Silent Pro (does anyone know how to derestrict this in the silencer? The restrictor ring I can just dremel out but I don't know if I need to cut it open or what to get the other one) -70cc Athena Big Bore Kit -Yellow Malossi Torque Spring and a replacement Clutch Springs for stock clutches assortment -Koso variator with 7g roller weights Probably going to get the Stage6 intake when I have more fundage, and possibly another carb if we can locate a good candidate. This is the first scooter I've ever tried to tune, so it'll be something I'm hoping. That's okay, think this is bad to find parts for? After all this is said and done, I get to try and speed up the scooter I have for my girlfriend to learn on, an AF05E Honda Elite 50 (SE50P). That's even worse, it would seem. So I'm going to enjoy the 'easy' hard project while I can.

With the stage 6 intake I would start with a delorto 19 or 21mm phgb on a sport build. Easy to tune

Welp, I installed the kit today. Went smoothly, except for one major issue (I'll post pics and document further a bit later on) -- the intakes do not match up at all; nor do the reed valve mounting holes. I'll need an intake (probably a Zuma) and reed valves that will fit. Does the Stage6 include both, that you know of, by chance?
