Hello All! As the title states I am looking for an engine for my 2002 F12, I believe it is the 1PE40QMB but that is air cooled. Is there any place I can buy a complete engine that is liquid cooled? I found this: www.ebay.com/itm/Scooter-2-Stroke-1PE40QMB-50cc-Engine-with-Rear-Disc-ENG042-/362071146572?hash=item544d1f404c:g:loUAAOSwM5RZksjI&vxp=mtrDoes that look like a good engine to throw into my scooter? Will the quality differ from the one that came stock with my scooter? The reason I am replacing the engine is because the crank splines are really warped and some of the components cant even come off without serious damage to the crank. Anyways if anyone has any sources for new engines for my scooter that would be awesome. Thanks!

If the splines are messed up just replace the crank. Malaguti engine should be a european minarelli.

That's the thing, I have a friend who works on scooters and said that if you split the engine it will never seal properly again and its very hard to split it in the first place, is that true? I have worked on many car engines and can rebuild an engine but have never done any small engine work/ 2 stroke stuff.

What!? My tgb has a morini knock off style engine. I split the cases and changed the crank a few months ago. If you can rebuild a car engine than you can do it. Post some pics if you can of your scoot now and the problem crank.
The tricky part is getting them back together with the bearings and oil seals. Get a good case sealant like yamalube 4 to seal the case it self. There are videos on this site of it being done. I watched them and figured it out. And I'm an electrician, if your a mechanic you can do it.

People split 2 stroke scooter engines all the time. As long as you remove all old sealant from the surface and use good sealant it'll seal fine.

I looked through that guys videos and couldn't find anything meaningful to what I'm doing, this is the only video I could find that kind of applies to me: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWuS_eOHN_8 Anyone have any resources for doing a tear down of the liquid cooled version of the 1PE40QMB? I kind of just want a complete guide that lists everything I need to do, I know that may be a lot to ask so any help is appreciated. Thanks!
