I just bought a 2002 beamer, my question is should I keep using the oil injection, or disconnect it and run premix? it seems to work fine, but I want some opinions on it, Thanks.

Personally I'd keep it for the convenience if the motor is stock.

Premixing is really messy, and a headache to boot. IMHO, stay with the oil injection. Be sure to use quality 2t oil.

I prefer premix and I'm used to it since I haven't used oil injection since the first few thousand miles of my very first scoot, but that S word (stock) is sorta blasphemous to me. Injection usually works out just fine and it's convenient. I didn't have a lot of customers when I did work locally, but I did have 1 guy that ended up with a ruined cylinder when his stock oil pump failed on a Chinese scoot. Even on the forum, we don't hear about this much though. I'd have to guess the risk is pretty low for this, and the reward of easier fill ups is worth it to most.

I prefer premixing myself.
Oil injection is great when it works. When it breaks and some day it will, it will do it without any warning.
Failed injection pump or drive gears or belt, cracked or broken injector lines, faulty low oil float(in tank), indicator lamp or wiring, just a few things that can go wrong. There are no computers or electronics monitoring this system. So when it does break that weasel(engine)will go "POP".

I,ve just gone premix after a soft sieze at 10k,fussed and faffed over it,but now I just measure the 2T oil into 250ml soda bottles and add that at the fuel pump then fill up with the exact amount of fuel needed, works ok for me,most of our gas stations are shops as well so the extra minute it takes isn,t a fuss.

Question for you: does your Beamer have a key ignition, or just an on/off switch? I recently got an '03, and I was wondering if the on/off toggle was standard or if someone replaced the original ignition.

Funny change of opinions by some...The bottom line decision for me has always been simple function. I have seen many pump failures, or worse, super inconsistent ratio delivery.
Pre-mixing can only fail if you brain fart. Ask Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda...or anyone else. Do they use pumps on their race bikes? NO! Ever? No. It is a street bike sales gimmick. Why? Lazy and/or ignorant buyers. A one dollar pump on a $3000 bike? Yep...go for it. I spend my dollar on ratio-right.
