Is there any difference in performance of a catalyzed stock exahust vs non-catalyzed stock exhaust? Both derestricted.

If there is an option I'd go for the non-cat version. Even if it's just in weight savings. A cat exhaust is pretty heavy.

Prob depends on the overall design of the system more than cat or no cat. My stock pipe with a cat outperforms the couple of stock pipes I have without cats. I don't think it's related to the cat though. I believe it's because 2 of them are generic mufflers that can fit 2T or 4T and one is a once piece header/muffler designed for the 2T.

The catalytic converter on a couple of the Yamaha I have owned was just a rubber pipe coming off the exhaust. This went to a small oblong box, containing some form of charcoal. Not the most sophisticated system. The pipe might of restricted the flow slightly, but probably not a lot.
