New to the forum, and to scooters in general, and I'm looking for some advice. I inherited a 2003 Beamer Eton scooter from a friend, and it has needed a lot of work to get it running. But now that I'm nearly finished restoring it, I'm worried about the possibility of it getting stolen. Currently, it just has an on/off toggle switch, no key. So anyone could walk up, start it and ride off. Instead of having to rely on some kind of chain and padlock, is it possible to replace the switch with a key ignition? Has anyone done this?

They normally have a keyed switch, as Ryan linked to. Someone replaced yours for some reason. Added benefit of the real switch is that it also has a pin that goes into the frame and locks the steering when extended. Here's another source for E-Ton parts if needed : get2itparts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=135106_135089

This scooter is nicknamed "Franken-Scooter" because its body panels are stitched together with zip ties after some past wreck. As far as I knew, the toggle switch was factory.
