I don't know what you guys think of sprees, but I picked up a 1987 for pretty cheap. The problem is the electric start doesn't work, so I have to kick start it, and it is hard to start, most of the time, but sometimes it will start in 2 or 3 kicks, but usually it takes 10 to 20. the compression is only 100 psi, can this be the problem? When it starts it runs nice, yes I cleaned the carb real good, new plug, good spark. this is not my first spree, the others all started good.

Are you using the stock airbox with a clean filter?

Have you checked the auto-bystarter(auto choke) to see if its working properly?

ok, I replaced the bystarter, cleaned the carb. twice, now sometimes it will start and run good, then the next time I try it it won't start, or will take many kicks to start it. I even checked the reed plate, it is ok. I think maybe the carb.is bad, but the are pricey. any thought?
