I've read a few articles on mopeds and they said the get rid of the "disc" on the main jet in the bowl right away. what is the deal with this? Should I pitch the disc? my thoughts at that if its there it's there for a reason!!!

My understanding is it is supposed to reduce fuel sloshing and and bubbling. Keep the flow smoother when bouncing around. Needed in a dirt bike, not so much on a street scooter.

Well I took it out...we will see! The moped article said throw it as far away as you can!! It causes a major Lean condition at wot. So it's gone!

I took mine apart one day to clean it and when I put it back together I installed the disk upside down. It bogged seriously bad so I took it apart and cleaned it at least two more times trying to figure out what was wrong and each time I put that silly disk on upside down. I finally questioned myself about its orientation and flipped it over and all was good. Then I came across those articles and immediately disassembled the carb again and threw the damn thing in the trash.

That's the first thing I did on all 3 Stage6 Dellorto carbs. I ditched that disc.

Still waiting on the 40 pilot jet I ordered. It seems to be running pretty well without the disc and an 85 main jet. Waiting for the uni filter to put in the stock air box then I'm gonna tune some more. With the air/fuel screw turned all the way in the motor seems to still run pretty well. Doesn't that mean the pilot is too fat?? So when I go to the 40 I'm THINKING it should be better. yesterday I spent a few hours tinkering.....I took out the reed cage and use loctite blue on the screws, used permatex around the cage and gasket to make sure I had no air leaks, tried taking the small washer out where the drive boos was and didn't notice much difference. then I read it's supposed to be there so I put it back in. I also cut away the area in the cat cover to help cool the clutch down. I've done that on all my scoots. I make some holes in the front and the rear to get cool air through the cover. i have 8gm weights in it now and top out at 41. Not sure if I should mess with the jetting more or the weights. I will probably tune the carb first then mess with weights afterward.
