What a great bike. Sometimes we have to move on. Even if it's really painful.

Nice bike. I'd like something like that, but at the prices I see them for locally, I could buy a sportbike and if I've gotta shift and pay out thousands for anything decent, I kinda want more horsepower since I can't afford multiple big bikes. The supermotos seem like they'd be a lot of fun though.
I guess it will vary by state, but can you buy any dirtbike and add signals and whatnot and then get it inspected? Are there certain DOT approved models or modern bikes required because of emissions? I'm assuming some of the guys here would be riding around 2T MX bikes if you could just throw signals on them and go. I read that some have a VIN number that denotes off road only. Some say you can go through Vermont to get a proper title. I saw a thread about a guy trying to do it in MD and said he'd update, and of course never did.

I believe many offroad mx bikes need a full stator swap and the wiring done for lighting. Some also need a tire swap to dual-sport kendas or other road legal tires. Then, in minnesota, bring it in for a dot inspection with a declaration of motor size, 2/4t, and hp output. If they clear it, you can insure it (mandatory before anything next) title and tag it, then a final road handling test to be sure you can operate it legally on roads.

I bought a kit made by Tusk that includes a brake light and turn signals for each corner of the bike. It's all LED and included a smallish rechargeable battery that will last for a couple of days before needing to be charged. I also had to go to an approved dealer/mechanic to have a DMV paper signed off saying that the tires are DOT approved and that it has working lights. Fairly simple.

Sorry to see it go. Hopefully to a good home. Yes it went to a young guy who I know will look after it and maintain it . My riding has changed over the years and I suspect I might be in the older age bracket of forum membership . I no longer ride as fast or for as long as I once did and the WR which was the last in a long line of bikes wasn't getting used much . Also my wife has taken up riding one of our scooters so its much more fun to go for rides with her and both be on Aerox's rather than me two miles ahead and her playing catchup all the time . I'm loving my Scooters more and more and apart from maybe some long distance touring cant really ever see myself owning a large motorcycle again . Ken

Glad to see young person getting involved in the fun. It's wonderful you have someone to ride with. I ride with a neighblor who owns a motorpool of scoots. I can relate to the days, when he is on a 300cc, and keeping up on my 50. Humorous indeed. I'm riding less, rarely more than a few miles form home due to a near miss in a grocery store parking lot last year. Ride safe! Cheers! David
