So I picked up a new carb (this carb) for my china special. Seems to be great quality and the oval passage inside seems a bit bigger than the original PZ19J passage. I am still trying to figure out the jetting, in fact, I am not 100% sure what style jet it uses, but the old PZ19J jets seem to thread in fine. Anyway, I've noticed that the revs get higher when the bike is leaning to the left, anyone got any ideas why that is? There doesn't seem to be any more fuel in the lines than when upright, and I get a kick that such a silly thing is happening.

Leaning or having the handle bars turned to the left? Maybe the throttle cable needs a little slack?

could you have a vacuum leak in the manifold? only affected if you turn one direction, a leak will cause a rev increase

I'm not sure about the leak, I will check. I know when I had the original carb on there it didn't do this.

Update: I got it to a rideable state. Put the stock jet back in, but still working on getting a fine tune. One thing I've noticed is the needle is FAT and the seat in the jet is equally FAT. I compared it to the jets I have for the stock carb (mikuni). I am wondering if the jets are even compatible at this point, they thread in fine, but as far as how the needle sits in there I am not sure, maybe I will try swapping the needle AND the jet. Also, it seems the leaning rev-up seems to be mostly eliminated, I can live with it, I am only keeping this bike around until the cops get on my ass about it not being registered yet.
