Hi,
So im back.
i did my cold air intake mod and my scooter was running just as it used to.
I then got my new air filter. I check it. it looked clean. Scooter started.
Afther that i tried start. Was a little hard. I attributed it to the cold day.
Time afther that it was clear i was running lean. Took a few minutes to start.
Today it wouldnt start. I needed the scooter so i upjetted. It start and was running OKish.
I suspect a worsening air leak in my intake system. The first bit that comes to the engine seems like it down sealed with no cracks on the rubber
Therefore maybe something in the carb is letting the air past.
Does this seem like the correct diagnosis. Also where do i find a rebuild for a gixal carb / keihin replica i guess.

That's all you did was upjet? That free flow filter makes it an entirely different beast. You'll need to adjust your air fuel.. idle screw.. and possibly richen up your needle setting a bit.
What are symptoms? Won't stay running? Pops and or bogs during throttle?

Take off the foam air filter and put your air box back on. You're going to have to tune the carb so much just to get it to work right and not damage your motor, and you're not going to get any performance added in my opinion. Just put the stock air box back on before you end up with a hole in your piston. I've done the foam air filter thing, and I won't use a uni filter unless I absolutely have to.

So I put the old filter back. Same effect. Its not the filter. Or at least. If It it already broke what evers broken.

Yeah I didn't think it would make a difference.. put that uni back on and troubleshoot your carb. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. Start with air fuel and idle.. Go to needle and main jet after that.

Are you still using the open air filter?

I take that back. I tried starting again with the old carb and had the same issue. (Got lucky on that start I guess)
So I removed the intake manifold (?) And check it. No crack o ring looks good so does the contact surface. I check the vac line its fine. Fuel pump seems to be functioning correctly.
I disassembled the carb everything looks like its in working order.
I put back stock air filter and jets.
Still no dice.
I removed the spark plug and saw severe carbon build up.
I'm not sure if that is due to my recent upjet or if I have been running rich in general. When I tuned my scooter last I wasnt bogging and I had a stable idle. I cleaned the spark plug as best I could. I tested it against the valve cover screw. Spark was blue. Should be good enough.
I did a compression test. Engine cold (obviously) and with no added oil (through spark plug hole) I got 120 psi throttle open. (I had this same reading last time)
What is causing this?
I can't do a leak down now but tomorrow I can.
Still behaves like it did when I was to lean and wouldnt start.

Dont have a multimeter but considering aftger I do manage to get it started with a drill its more likely I start it again which suggest its not a electrical issue. Also habe a strong spark and it did charge my battery when I got it going enought to go to the gas station.
Also ive changed my oil in case any got in the gas.

Omg.. So I chanhed the vid because why not. Engine started right up. Sweet. Now for what eber reason its running super lean! I put my smallest jet and I'm still getting black smoke what gives

Black smoke is rich not lean

Black smoke is rich not lean That's what I meant. Seems like I reassembled the. Idle mixturecontril incorrectly. Does ANY one know the right order?

Does ANY one know the right order? do you mean the mixture screw? it should be screwed in until it lightly bottoms, then backed out 2 1/2 turns. that should alow it to run then adjust from there , that only affects idle mixture
