I took on another project. The new project (Kymco Super Fever 2) takes off very slowly and barely gets to 30 mph. - Carb is cleaned
- CDI derestricted
- drive boss derestricted
- Compression feels strong
- new OEM belt installed
- 6.5g new rollers
- yellow springs with red contra
Clutch is engaging late ( I can hold back bike with feet on ground). Clutch looks worn and keeps glazing over. I use light sandpaper and brake cleaner but it keeps glazing over. My next step is to replace the clutch pads and or contra spring (with a 1000). Are replacement clutches, contra and clutch springs the same size? Will the ones made for GY6's (on ebay) fit on my Kymco? I am learning as I go. Thanks in advance for any help.

Contra is probably too stiff, springs too stiff as well. Hi stall is good for the most part, but yours sounds too high. This is why your clutch keeps glazing. Go 1000 on the contra and 1500 on the springs.

Yep, Contra spring waaay to stiff, a good stock spring is all I have ever needed on mine and I have a 70cc kit. Also it will help to get the slightly longer drive boss available for the variator, or you can add a shim or two to the stock boss. This will help you get into a lower starting gear.
The Kymco Super Fever II is a VERY good scoot IMO.

Thanks. I thought it was a red flag when I took saw the red contra spring in there. Still trying to understand the previous owner: derestricted drive boss, changed springs in clutch but didn't derestrict the cdi (which is the easiest thing on this bike). I will keep you updated.

Iv ran ALL gy6 50cc cvt parts in my Kymco(except of belt for obvious reasons)without issues.
Keep in mind the spring tensions, angle groove in torque driver, variator ramp plate angles, drive boss lengths will vary. It will all bolt up. Clutch bell and clutch are the same diameter as well as variator.
FYI. Shorter drive boss length will give you more speed, but will lose take off performance.

No problem with the gy6 springs in the clutch. I'm getting 34 mph out of it (gps) but I'm still fiddling with it. Ordered some 6g sliders and I'll either use them or swap them out with my tao's 4.5g sliders (If my tao goes faster with them).
I grinded the boss down and it was too short to use the kick start (didn't like that) so I put a washer in it. I keep staring at you signature gsx6000, thinking and thinking about doing a BBK in the winter. Still love my tao but I love the fierce sounding 2 stroke.

MJ,
I don't know about the Kymco fit but are you finding grease in the clutch bell? And, or a fine, even line of grease strewn around the inside of the CVT cover? If so you may have failed grease seals, O-rings, on the torque driver causing the clutch pad glazing. I've got that problem now and have less than 500 distance units on the odometer of my Tao Tao.
Good luck, Greg
