So.. scoot runs great...50cc taotao50 with 139qmb.. pretty much have upgraded everything except for my cvt.. currently running free flow exhaust .. filter.. and 50mm bbk.
I've been trying to figure out why I am just roasting rollers.. I've cut a hold in my cat cover above my clutch bell and removed material on the inside to allow more flow but I seem to be going through rollers every 100 miles or so. Picked up a scoot for a friend with 6k miles on it and his rollers were fine!
When I say fine I mean.. rounded lol. Mine have some real bad flat spots on them and I'm guessing I just need more airflow. I figure my cat is getting hot and melting the vinyl coating on these crappy rollers maybe? Also getting quite a bit of belt dust but I can't feel anything slipping. Causes my clutch pads to glaze... glazing clutch pads and rollers with flat spots=no fun!
Any advice? STOCK vari and clutch.

Are you using cheap rollers? If so, try some good ones. I'd recommend trying DrPulley sliders. You may have to do a bit of re-tuning, but they hold up better than anything I've tried. Clean and inspect the entire CVT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EjW-iSP-Q8

I'll check that vid out and yes I have been using total garbage rollers. Picked up some Dr pulley sliding rollers. Afraid if I put them in they'll be wasted in no time.

Hey are millsc and alleyoop still scooting?! Not sure. They've never been around here much and I don't really venture out to other forums. I'll check that vid out and yes I have been using total garbage rollers. Picked up some Dr pulley sliding rollers. Afraid if I put them in they'll be wasted in no time. Some cheap rollers will do this. If you burn up the DrP's then you have a real issue. I'd def do the clean/inspect prior to installing them. A good cleaning is at the top of my list whenever CVTs do strange things.

Hi,
I think alleyoop was at scootdawg, I used to follow that forum, but he kind of seemed to retire with no explanation. He was a good source of info too. But never fear, there is a wealth of info here tho and since it is a 49cc devoted site you won’t be hassled for your choice in scoots.
Enjoy, Greg
