don't forget to use better grounds too Could you elaborate a little? By better grounds i'm assuming you mean making sure what i'm grounding my wires to don't have rust, dirt and are able to be secured properly I mean decent ground wires of a proper gauge, the factory wires are really too small. The difference in cranking speed with good size power and ground wires will surprise you, it should be at least 6 gauge from the battery to frame and from frame to engine

I've used car audio 8AWG cables when I upgraded grounds and starter leads. More expensive, but nice and flexible so it's easier to work with. I ran a wire from batt - to a ring terminal on a bolt in the frame. Then I ran a cable from that same bolt to the engine. That way batt, frame, and engine are all tied together well with larger cables. I don't claim that this should be necessary, but it did improve cranking a little on my scoot.
