Hello friends!! Been a little while since I've been on here. I got really frustrated with the scoot and had to just say screw it for a while but I'm about to get back at it! So! I'm trying to figure out a couple of things. As y'all may or may not remember I put one of the 100cc big bore kits on my 50cc TaoTao atm50-a. Got it running and even took it to a shop a pretty good ways from me just to make sure everything looked good and all. Got the thumbs up! Rode it to class twice with no problems. Third time riding it, mind you this is less that 20 total miles since I got it going, I'm riding to class and I hear this sort of ping and a grind. It loses power and I pull over and it's pouring oil out. Took apart what I could and really couldn't see anything except the plastic fan where the kick start/kickstand is was tore up. Belt was fine, gears were fine, just that piece and I don't use the kick start anyway. It was at that point I had to push it back home and I loaded on the back of my mom's truck, took it to her basement, politely flipped it off, cursed it, and left. Lol! That was in January. So couple of questions. First off does anyone have an idea as to what may have happened? I'm kinda thinking the connecting rod or the crankshaft in the motor may have snapped but I honestly haven't tore that far into it yet. Because it was pouring oil I thought it might possibly be the oil pump but I haven't taken everything off to get a good look at it yet. But from what I can see of it, it looked ok. I didn't find any debris or anything in the road where it happened or where I pulled it over or anything either. Any ideas? Also does this sound like something I'm going to be able to fix without replacing the motor? If I'm going to have to do that I think I'd rather basically sell it for parts and put the cash into my project car I'm getting. I'd love to fix it but after all the time and money I've put in upgrading so much on it I'm just not sure how much more I really want to invest in it! Any ideas? Thanks everyone!!!
Oh just to add, it did have enough oil in it before I rode it. I had just put oil in it at the shop I took it to so I know at least it was good as far as that goes!
Oh just to add. I know it had oil in it before I rode it because I put new oil in it at the shop I took it to. So I know at least it was good on that!
