so I tried to do some digging around this site but haven't seen any similar problems. I got this TaoTao 50cc scooter about 2 weeks ago and last night it was stolen. We found it but I got it back and the electric start won't work and it'll only start up from a kick start. Once it starts up, the gas gauge doesn't work, none of the lights work except the main head light (no turn signals, brake lights etc.) The battery is fully charged too. I think the guy whole stole it turned it on with a screw driver some how ?? I don't really know much about these scooters and have no idea where to start. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. thanks

Check your fuse.
There's a 10amp fuse that may have been blown.
Maybe the guy tried hotwireing it and shorted it or something.
there should be two cables conning out of your battery + lead. The smaller of the two has a old school cylindrical fuse in a plastic case with one spare.
Confirm the main one was blown. If so with the ignition off put the new one in. Becareful if the scooter is shorted somewhere the new one will blow Immedietly. If that happens then you have to find the short before you replace the fuse again.
DONOT PUT A FUSE WITH A LARGER CAPACITY OR JAM ANNY OTHER PEICE OF METAL TO MAKE THE CONNECTION UNLESS YOU WANT TO CATCH FIRE

I was going to "LIKE" BadLuna's post above, but I see he already self-liked his own post so I didn't need too.
In any event, good post for you to read substars7

was the Steering Lock in use, when it was Stolen ? if it was Activated, make accurate inspections to any Structual damage at headstock etc places, to avoid any Hiding danger......that can Lock-up your Steering while riding !!
for same sake of safety, it would be "must to do" to take of the CVT cover and inspect all Kicker assy parts. if the Thief kicked it, you dont wanna find out any Hiding hairline cracks or any other Granade issues from your CVT case.....
some 139QMB's state 7Amp main fuse, some 10 and some even 15amp's.
so Verify yours and use Quality brand Fuse, not china made.....

If you do find it is the fuse, repair the short if any, then consider installing a 10A circuit breaker and housing available from any auto parts store.
