Hey Folks,
I have a 2006 Vino 125. About a thousand miles ago it was dying on me and I did a carb cleaning and it was good to go again. More recently the idle sounded funny and I decided to put a fuel filter right upstream from the carb. I had problems initially with air in the filter and found a way to purge it (it won't run long with air in the filter). A few weeks later it just died on me a few more times, I thought I was having carb issues for sure and was getting ready to just order a new one and get on my way but I just looked and the filter is full of air, (on either side of the filter paper). It's not gonna work like that so I might just get a new fuel line and not use the filter because there is a small filter in the gas tank. My worry is that the air could get into the new line. What could be causing this? Petcock malfunction? Any way it could be coming from the carb (maybe I should just get a new one?) Any advice would be appreciated, including a standardized way to bleed the system. I know with large machines like tractors this isn't an issue and the line will bleed itself but everything is so small here it's just a different world. Thanks!

Faulty vacuum operated petcock? I'd start there. Verify fuel isnt in the vacuum side of it. You could even temporarily bypass it to see if your issue persists. Don't bother replacing parts unless you verify the original is bad or it's a bunch of wasted money and time.

Thanks catchacuda,
The vacuum line was dry. I just put a new fuel line in and am ditching the filter. I just took it for a spin and it worked alright, which means the petcock is working (for now). Basically this issue only comes up after I've driven a couple miles which makes it hard to diagnose because it will go away and come back. Which is why I think it could be a not so happy carb. But hey it works right now, may as well try it out.
Now that I think about it when I disconnect the fuel line from the petcock when the scoot is off it normally drips and I have to plug it with a finger.... Would that indicate that it's effed? Sure doesn't seem like it's doin it's job...

Its probably on its way out. Better to eliminate it and put a manual valve in with an inline fuel filter.
Edit: Be sure to cap the vacuum line or you'll have more troubles.
