Ok so I put the big bore kit on my tao tao 50cc atm-a1 and the new piston is to tall it is hitting the crankshaft on the down storke any ideas on what I did wrong or how to fix it?

Remove the material on the bottom of the piston(the skirt) to clear crankshaft if possible.

It was I 50mm that came with my kit. I ordered a higher preformance one it is shorter and clears fine I’m not going to finish it and start it till it warms up lol

Little confused, prob not reading the last part right. Did you end up getting two pistons, first one was hitting so a second one was ordered or did you clear the skirt material that was causing the problems

I do not think I'd trust a BBK that included pistons that hit the crankshaft counterweights. A good set would not include parts that were that far off. OTOH, I did get a countershaft gear that would not fit in the case from a web site. It was several mm too large in diameter, or measured like this in inches: 2.72" vs 2.76 or 60 thousandths, .060 too large in diameter. I guess the thing to learn is check that the part you want to use will fit, and don't take things for granted. It seems that quality control may be less than desired, and checking before installation can prevent a lot of damage. tom
