I built a new 103cc motor fot my tng venice and im at my wits end because i simply cannot get it to start. I have a nee dellorto 22mm carb with 45 pilot 98 main. I have spark when i kick it. Compression is 125-130 psi kicking. I assume that will go up after the motor runs?. Quench was about 1.2mm. Confirmed it held crankcase pressure. Replaced cdi and coil so far. Replaced fuel line with clear line and removed vacuum pecock for now and put a manual one in for now so i know it has fuel. I have no idea where to go from here other than replacing the stator and swaping the flywheel. I feel like those are very unlikely causes but i dont know what else to do.

Kick it over a bunch of times, and check the spark plug. Is it wet? And it has spark? Possibly mixture issue.

Maybe your too rich on the pilot jet.

Not too sure that replacing bits of the ignition system is the best course of action just yet, since you said you have spark. If it's a strong spark, then I'd not mess with it till other things were done. Spark color is one indicator. You want to see a white/blue/purple spark rather than an orange spark. Ideally, use a large gap tester like an HEI spark tester or adjustable spark tester. Alternatively, you can cut the ground strap off of an old plug or just bend it way back to create a large gap. It could be a timing issue, but those are not common enough that I would investigate that till later. It sounds like you can see fuel getting to the carb now, thanks to the clear hoses, but is it filling the bowl and is it getting to the engine are the things you need to know. As benji said, you can look at the plug after you've tried to start it to see if there is fuel present. If so, the bowl should be filling at least enough to start and fuel is making it to the engine. If not, you may not have fuel past the carb. If a lack of fuel is all that's holding it back, it should fire up if you put a drop of gasoline into the cylinder or spray starting fluid or carb cleaner through the carb (hold the throttle open to spray it in) or use an unlit propane torch as a fuel source. Also, if you see a lot of fuel on the plug, it could be flooded. You can try holding the throttle wide open to see if it will start.

Yes bowl fills, i can confirm by opening the drain. Gets blue spark. I have it gapped at what it comes. 0.35 i think

I tried the starter fluid already, and yes fuel is making it in as far as i can tell. Plug does not get super wet but does smell of fuel and i can get a little off on my finger

It really doesnt seem like its even trying to start which is very confusing

Try a new plug for fun and squirt some carb cleaner in the spark plug hole. If it doesn't even stumble, then maybe check the Piston and see if it's backwards maybe?
I've heard of pistons being cast wrong and the arrow on the top being in the wrong spot.

What air filter are you using? Stock airbox w no snorkel?

Right now i do not have the air box on, wont fit over the mouth of the new carb and have to modify it. Piston did not have an arrow but i put the window ports up. I guess pulling it apart shouldnt take long to confirm there is no internal issues.

Put an air box or filter on it. That's the problem I bet. Not enough vacuum to pull fuel from the carb.

A uni filter isn't the best option but will work

I went ahead and picked up a uni one off amazon until i can modify the stock on the fit the mouth of my new carb. Its roughly 1.75". In the meantime i guess ill pull off the cylinder and confirm piston placement again although im pretty positive its right. Just wont hurt

Okay, confirmed piston is facing the right way even though I had very little doubt. I would think that with the starter fluid it wouldnt matter if i had a filter but who knows. I will see if it works
