I bought a use Scooter from a scooter rental business in Florida. The guy that sold me this scooter told me it was a TAO TAO Prescott. The title says the make is a TMEC. The VIN on the scooter matches the title VIN so I know its the correct title. I searched online for this scooter so I would know how to find resources for info or parts. First thing I questioned was why did he tell me it was a TAO TAO when the title says the make is TMEC. I also can not find neither a TMEC or TAO TAO called a Prescott or even looks like mine. However I did find a picture of a Aeolus Prescott 50i and it does looks like the one I have but, I can't find any connection between that scooter and TMEC or TAO TAO. I need to replace some of the plastic body parts. Example would be front end body parts (headlight cover for example). I have tried using the VIN number online to nail down exactly what make and model I have and I get no where. The VIN number is L6MT2TBAOE1030001 . I read somewhere that the L6M could be a Florida number for scooters. It makes no sense to me.
The help I need is how do I find out exactly what I have so I can order body parts.
I did look at the engine and its a GY6.
Thank you for any help.

When I checked your VIN, it came back as a 2014 Wuxi Tmec Power Technology. I had to change the O to a 0 (zero) to get it to work.

those scooter rental places, probably don't even know what they have, they are probably all Tao Tao's to them, I canpromise you though, that it's been ridden hard and put away wet, and it's also restricted in some or multiple ways, all the rental bikes are, most of the time when people complain about a CDI being restricted, it's really not, but many rental bikes do have restricted CDIs to discourage spirited riding, people will still find a way to beat the hell out of them though, the last time I was in Florida, I saw a group of people on rentals, jumping speed bumps. seriously pull all your plastic and carefully inspect all your frame welds, people who rent these don't give a rats ass what they do to them, as long as it still runs when they turn it in

Ya I know I would do horrible things to a rental scooter. I've abused many a rental car in my day.

there used to be a video on youtube, of some idiot riding a rental down concrete steps, imagine every day of a scooters life, was filled with the kinds of idiots you see in those videos, plus add FL and spring breakers

The people I always dealt with for Chinese scooters was Scrappy Dog Scooters. They're pretty good about knowing what panels you need.(702) 689-6035
I've also heard that Parts For Scooters is another good place for Chinese scooters. I've never dealt with them and don't have their number, but they advertise here so it shouldn't be hard to get.

scrappy dog has the panels and a guide to showing which style you have, they seem to be the most body panel oriented out of everyone

Ridden hard & put away wet! I love that and haven’t heard it since I left Wyoming. How apt for rentals.

No doubt rental scooters get abused! We see them all the time being abused at the skate board park going over jumps and down the stairs along with being dropped when they cant make it up the steep ramps, just part of the Florida tourist trade..

You should have two VINs on the bike, one on the frame and one on the engine. They should match but a lot of times they don’t if the engine has been swapped out or something. I’d imagine in the rental biz the get broken down scoots all the time and might hobble one together using parts from different broken down scooters. A lot of those parts are interchangeable... a gy6 is a gy6. One VIN might say it’s this and another VIN might say it’s a that. Dunno.
