Im doing a rebuild i have read about people only running 1 ring on a 2 ring piston for more revs less friction and heat is this a wife's tail. I know there would be concern over compression as the 2 ring gives some insurance of this, am i wrong to even think of this or its okas long as i dont mind replasing pistions and rings often its ok to say forget it. Probable wouldnt do but was thinking.

Running a single ring is OK for race applications, but for street use the open lower ring groove will allow exhaust gasses to flow into the transfer ducts, diluting the fresh mixture with hot exhaust..

Use 2 rings, finish the cylinder with a ball (Brush) hone, and really good oil.
