I'm ranting as much as I'm asking for help, lol.
Adly RT50. Belongs to GF's sister. Sis's ex fancies himself a tuner but every 2t he builds seems to run lean and burn up. This bike was unassembled, they broke up, he dipped leaving her to deal with her broken bike after he took all the good parts.
It had been built out with Stage6 parts to go fast. He took the engine off of it to sell someone. Their old engine was left with it, with a burnt up top end. From what I understand the original engine is also now burnt up, lol.
Anyway. I found a stock topend to put on there. Figured out how to hang the engine.
I have compression, I have vacuum, I have spark, no signs of air leaks, can't even get a burble out of the engine turning it over.
I know the carb is all wrong. It's a 19mm Dellorto still jetted for the 70cc w/ pipe and all I've got installed is stock stuff. Still feel I should be able to get it to make some noise for me.
My timing light seems to be broken. I wanted to check to see if he did something dumb there but I don't see any signs that the stator has been shifted.
I need to do an actual compression test. Feels good to the ol thumb but there is a chance the topend I cobbled together simply isn't making enough compression.
If you have been using ether to try to get an engine to run, if you pull the plug to check for spark, ground it away from the head! Or don't. Fireballs can be exciting.

Just so you don,t feel lonely sorting out some else,s mess my biggest failure was an upside down piston(but it did run for seconds) keep at it.

Don't forget to lower your main jet. 70cc kitted would put you at around 110. Stock 50cc you should only be around 75-80.

I’m swapping it for a stock carb once I get one put together out of my junk box. Of course the way this dude burns top ends I may open it and find a 65 main in there.

Does it try to fire with some fuel dripped through the plug hole?

Found a stock type Mikuni in the junk box that was with the bike. It has a 50 main in it. Wow.
I can make the bike run now if I hold full throttle and hand choke it.
Next step will be hunting down some.more jets.

Progress is the main thing. Time for some jet kits; might as well tune it good while you are tuning the carb...lil' bit rich for reliability/ longevity, lest you be just like your GF's sister's ex and "burn up top ends". Lol.
I'm happy for you that you got it to fire up.

I'm happy for you that you got it to fire up. I like to tune them to run happy with no air cleaner, that way they are a little rich with the air cleaner but you don't seize when you hit the pothole coming off the big bridge at 60mph and the air cleaner goes flying.

I just realized we didn't I don't 100% understand how autoenrichers on Mikuni carbs work.
Disconnected from electricity. Is it going to on or off? I may be giving myself a bigger headache than necessary trying to tune this thing without hooking up the choke wires.

Unplugged they are enriched, when power is applied to the enricher the coil extends and blocks off a passage in the carb.

Got the enricher connected properly. Had to dig into my pile of Chinese junk to find a cconnector.Guess this carb came off of something else?
Opened the main jet up from two strands of Honda metropolitan center stand lock cable to three strands of Honda metropolitan center stand lock cable. Still lean but I can get it to idle and move under it's own power now with a really restrictive filter. After I get the shrouds on, coil mounted, wires secured, etc... I'm gonna try opening it to four strands of Honda Metropolitan center stand lock cable.
I sent her a link to the throttle cable she needs to get the oil pump hooked back up.

So a friend of mine lost the wrist pin circlips that came with his new DR kit. He bought a bunch of circlips somewhere. I used two of them to install this topend.
I just sent him a text suggesting he pull apart his topend and replace the circlips.
