Sounds like the carb isn't tuned and your hitting a dead spot in the powerband.

Another possibility would be a fuel supply issue. Perhaps it runs OK, but by the time you're reaching 50MPH it is running low on fuel in the carb so this happens. Could be a float height setting or something upstream (hose routing, clogged or pinched line, petcock). If it's not at all time dependent when you're heavy handed with the throttle, then it's more likely just a tuning issue like the wrong main jet.

I had this problem ona bike when It was running well and then I switched to an air filter that significantly reduced the amount of air to the carb. It rev up then cough and sputter and I'd gomofdnthe gas then gun it again and it would take off like normal. So I figured out what I did and went and dig through the trash to find that old air filter that was custom opened up to let more air in. Cleaned it up and put it back in and it got back to normal for what it was tuned for

hi since the last report ive fitted a rpm tackometer the scooter is set to 8000rpm ,reset carb still bogging ,i noticed it bogs on 9000=9500 rpm so ive come to the conclusion its restricted to 8000,resone for bogging so it dose not overheat and cease,if anybody as anymore thoughts let me know ,cheers

Another possibilty is a spark releated issue, i had a coil on my stator going bad and the bike sputter and die in the higher RPMs which is why i only run DC fired CDIs now

ive come to the conclusion its the cdi which is restricted to 8000 rpm,on a run it bogs out at 9 out 10000 rpm as i fitted a rev counter,so ive ordered a unrestricted cdi and ill see how that goes
