My scooter keeps ripping through belts.i even put a Kevlar belt on and with in a week it shredded.then I bought a 2 pm of cheaper belts and put one on and drive around the block twice,second time around it went out.visually inspect everything seems to look right put the next one on and it went ok less than 300 ft. (Just as a side note i was having to give full throttle just to get it to go,it didn't seem Right And sounded different)

(of the failed belt.

I would look for something out of wack like a bur or issue with the rear sheaves Check to make sure there is no wobble in the bearings

When you're talking about bearings are you talking about the rear shaft or something different

As soon as you mention cheap belts, an alarm goes off for me. Cheap belts suck. Years ago I spent time trying to figure out why I kept breaking belts on 2 different scoots. Looked for contact, cleaned and inspected CVTs, etc... Puzzled. Went back to Bando belts and the problem went away instantaneously on both scoots. Will not buy cheapo knockoff belts anymore. Even some kevlar belts are junk. Get a reputable brand. I prefer Bando. Not a big fan of Gates, but many use them with much success.
Clean the whole CVT and inspect thoroughly. Worn spots in the torque driver grooves, grooves worn into the drive face (check with straight edge and light), bad bearings in the rear pulley, poor fit between variator drive boss and bushing, any sort of damage or anything that doesn't look quite right to you.

If you need 'full throttle' just to get it to go, then there are a few possibilities that come to mind: The belt may be the wrong size. Too long, and it will slip. The clutch on the rear pulley may be damaged, and fail to engage without high rpm. At high rpm, the variator will pull together, and try to shift to 'high gear' before it should, putting more load on the belt, especially if the contra spring is weak. The surfaces of the clutch pulley, the fixed variator half and the moving variator half may be damaged, and cut the belt when it is put under load. As suggested, you might want to take both ends apart, clean and inspect. Check the clutch shoes & springs for being intact, the torque/contra large spring in the clutch that keeps tension on the belt, and slowly 'gives way' to the variator forcing it to squeeze in and change the effective pulley size, would make the system shift into higher gear sooner if it got weak. A lot of slippage can occur in a short time, and burn a belt quickly if the spring is too weak and doesn't keep tension on the belt. The variator would 'win' the tug-of-war between the two pulley systems, and would squeeze the front pulley sides close together more quickly than 'normal' if the rear spring was weak, leading to quicker shifts to higher gear, and possible slippage. tom

I also really like Bando belts. Just be aware that Bando actually has multiple grades of belts, look for the ones that are made in Japan. They make a lower grade Made in China belt as well now. Matt

Year, brand, model, engine modifications? Check if a rear gearbox bolt has backed out and is contacting the clutch.
