Not entirely sure how it happened, but I impulsively ended up with a brand new ATM50-A1 today! I bought it from a local scooter shop so it was assembled and had a pseudo PDI before he delivered it. So far today I’ve changed the engine and gear oils and properly filled the tires with air. Any other critical steps that don’t involve removing all of the plastics? Is there a bigger/stronger battery I can install? I’ve watched most of admin’s PDI videos but some of the steps still have me overwhelmed for now Any initial tips would be greatly appreciated!

Having little trust.... I would check a few things on my own. Are the handlebars tight? There is one bolt that makes the handlebar secure and tight. I'd check that. I would also check the brake linkage and adjustment. Just making sure that things are connected and functional. If you can steer it and stop it, last thing to check is the throttle cable and connection. You surely want the throttle to close immediately when you release the twist grip, no hesitation or slowness, and want it to open the throttle cleanly, smoothly and with little effort. If there's a problem, find it now before finding it out on the road somewhere. Last would be a general look-over. Finding screws, bolts, nuts, and clips that should be tightly fastened but are not just by looking. You know, things like the front axle nut, the brake caliper mounting bolts, etc, so you can expect the wheels to stay in place for a while. A decent inspection of critical controls is not time wasted, and it should not take more than 15-20 minutes to be relatively sure things won't fall off. As far is making it a smallish pile of merde, that's up to you. Personally, I like just a smidge more zoom, not a lot, as there are a lot of hills locally, and not much flat. I am not into 'gram tuning' as mucb as some, just so it goes, stops, steers, and won't blow up. tom

Argh - I wasn’t planning on modifying it much but after installing a new 20mm carb and cone filter on my Zummer, it really makes a big difference...

Sometimes you have to just ignore those Pile of Poo comments. I feel that these TaoTaos are as much of a hobby item as transportation. So, what ever blows your hair back, Go for it and have fun. Greg

Any suggestions on a starting main jet with a BBK (47mm) and a 20mm carb? I’m currently running a #38 pilot and #90 main in my Zummer with decent results. Is it worth starting a little bigger? Maybe a #95? Thanks guys! This is so much fun

The safest way is to start on the large side and work down if it acts rich. Maybe 100 to start, see how it does.
