Happy St. Patrick's Day guys. i have an engine wiring problem. I was recently given a Taotao ATM50a1a that had an blown engine. I ordered a new engine. Here's my problem, the engine has 4 wires coming out; Red White/ Blue White Yellow The frame has 5 wires; Red/Black Green Yellow Yellow/Blue White Can anyone tell me what wires connect to what\ wires? And what about the 5th wire coming from the frame? I need to know as my scoot was recently stolen and this scooter that was given me will be my only transportation and I don't want to blow out my electrical by hooking it up wrong. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Your 6th wire could be the green that's an engine ground.

If i had to guess Red -> red/black White/blue -> yellow/blue Yellow -> Yellow White -> White The green is just a ground for the stator, you can put a ring connector on it and connect it to a bolt on the engine Check what wires run to the CDI box, it should be a red/black and the yellow/blue. And the yellow and white wires should connect to the regulator

Do you have an electrical meter and know how to use it? What's the smallest ohm marking? Following are based on a TaoTao diagram and a more generic diagram: So call these likely. Yellow is the ac feed to the enricher, rectifier, and headlight switch. It comes from the center tap on a stator coil that feeds White to the rectifier. The green wire should be securely affixed to the engine. No paint in the way. Red most likely is the feed to the red/black from the CDI. White/blue and Yellow/blue are most likely the 'trigger' feed to the CDI. I'll look for more info.
