Last summer I did another scooter roadtrip with my friends. The same crew as with the trip to Dijon France in 2015. A bunch of old Peugeot SV beaters, a tomos 2 speed, a puch maxi, a Honda Scoopy, a honda vision exactly like mine and me on the (bone stock) Axis.
We drove from Amsterdam to the North, crossing the German border there. Going back down south through Germany. A little over 1000km's, lots of beer, bbq, party, knocking over cyclists and fun stupid fun.
At one point we where on a super plain boring camping somewhere in Germany. We had nothing to do, no pubs were open and we ran out of beer. After a bit of asking around we heard rumors there was a biker party somewhere nearby. Ofcourse we went out to look for it and WE FOUND IT! A few villages away from where the camping was. Had a hell of a lot of fun with those German bikers. LOTS of beers, lost my rear mudgaurd after i did a burnout and a drunk biker pushed the rear tire down...so i wheelied and lost the mudguard. A bit of ducttape and it was all fine again.
Had tons of fun!
Enjoy

That looks like it was a blast! Are those small paths just made for bikes or are scooters allowed on them?

That looks like it was a blast! Are those small paths just made for bikes or are scooters allowed on them? Those really narrow ones are bicycle paths i think. All the other ones are bicycle/moped combined roads, cars arent allowed there. Holland has a vast network of those moped/bicycle roads, running parallel to virtually all the major roads and highways. You can travel cross country solely on bicycle roads if you wanted, which a lot of ppl do by the way. They're actually called bicycle highways, with very wide, clean, straight and flat stretches of asphalt. On my way back I did 160km (100mi) in about 4.5 hours on a bone stock minarelli including 1 stop for fuel and navigating. That thing tops out at around 40mph and it wasn't only through rural area.... So you can get an idea for how long you can keep WOT when taking those bicycle highways! 90GTVert Brent, what distance do you generally cover in a given amount of time on your roadtrips?

90GTVert Brent, what distance do you generally cover in a given amount of time on your roadtrips? A lot of mine are to the beach where I go red light to red light and get stuck behind buses, so it may be 175-225 miles in 8-12 hours commonly for a day. If you only count the commute part, 70 miles each way, then I go 140 miles in about 4 hours which comes out to 35MPH average and that's from cruising around 50MPH and filling the tank 2-4 times, plus I stop basically hourly and have to change batteries in the GoPro. That's mostly on 50MPH roads (sometimes the shoulder, sometimes the roadway depending what feels right at the time), but I go through multiple towns where I'm stuck with 25-35MPH speed limits and red lights and stop signs. And honestly to do it in pretty much the 4 hours flat combined, I'm likely riding like a jerk through towns (speeding and not slowing down much more than I have to for turns). To be fair though, it takes at least 3 hours round trip commute only on highways with the TMAX or cars not obeying the speed limit often. Around the city, 49cc scoots win hands down if there's much traffic because I'm in the bus/bike lane most of the time passing them. On the TaoTao that's only good for 30-35MPH cruising, I average more like 25MPH. If you've never paid attention to average speeds calculated by something like a GPS app, it can be surprising just how difficult it is to have a high average speed. Add a few minutes for a battery change or fuel up or bathroom break or red light and it drops quick.

I drove a few times from Holland to Hungary (some friends of mine are living there). Thats about a 800mi trip which usually takes me about 12-13 hrs. And like 70% of the trip is on the German Autobahn where's no speed limit. So it's basically setting the cruise control on 100mph and stay there for hours untill i need to fuel up. Still...with about 3 fuel stops and all, i still only got about 60mph average.
