Hi peeps so I bought a ebay (racing clutch) well I'm getting no slip like I need slippage I believe the clutch just sucks its very heavy anf the red springs I think are normal springs painted red but not sure it did nothing for performance that's for sure.
I did order new 2k springs and Contra to try and now I'm running a thicker belt bx30 which is 5/8 wide rather than 1/2 the bike don't wake up until 15-20 mph take off is lame even with 5g rollers I think I need 3.5 my bike is a Nu50 Urban Express by Honda its basically like the grand daddy of the scooters today but 2T gy6 parts fit I'm wandering if I can get a taller clutch bell to get the slip I way or if I should lighten the clutch. What do you guys think my bike does 45ish right now on flats I'm going for 50 so I need a new variator whats a good one for cheapness?? My bike is kitted with a DR cast iron kit 7 ports getting carbon reeds soon.

What kind of clutch? Some slip more than others.
If you don't feel like spending more money you could try lightening the shoes. Drill holes in the same place on each one. Use some common sense and place them where they're less likely to weaken the structure.

Try heavier springs you can match the length to quality springs like Malossi or Polini. If you went to a wider belt without shimming the variator your essentially starting in second. Either use the original width belt or shim the variator to get the belt as far down for the best takeoff.

the belt does already sit on the variator boss shimming the boss only defeats the purpose of wider belt I believe as the belt will not be able to go up high enough. I'm unsure of brand of clutch its an ebay one its black with red springs its ver y heavy I'm unsure if the springs are just painted red or are 2k springs I have new ones on the way to make sure....
I just don't think drilling it will be the way to go as I don't see being able to get enough weight off of it as the base itself is made of heavy steel and with the shoes id say weights 3-5 pounds, I should have gone with a more expensive clutch anyone recommend a lightweight one for $50 and under?

The weight of the individual shoes is all that matters when you're worrying about how it engages.
