Typically people remove the choke. measure the length of the tit. Apply 12v to the connector for 5 min. Then re-measure the length of the tit, it should be longer. This is what i did.
If you must use a multimeter. Check the resistance at the two pins of the connector. Im not sure what that should be, its a heating element so it should have *at least* a few ohms.

My choke shuts off in less than a minute, others seem to take longer. Also my motor doesn't seem to rev as high as others seem to do when the choke is on. It makes me think these little choke heaters have no real consistency regarding an ohmic value. Greg

Here are the results of my test on two chokes
auto-enricher from the unbridled [black lid] carburetor ohms in retractation before the erection = 8,9ohms time to erect [hot] = 2min ohms in erection [hot] = 4,2 ohms time to retract [hot->cold] = 6--7 minutes ohms in retraction [hot->cold] = 5,7 ohms at 7 minutes ; 6,2 ohms at 9 minutes ; 6,7 ohms at 12 minutes ; 7 ohms at 14minutes ; 7,3 at 17 minutes ;
auto-enricher brand new from aliexpress ohms in retractation before the erection = 15 ohms time to erect [hot] = 2min ohms in erection [hot] = 10,6 ohms time to retract [hot->cold] = 7--8 minutes ohms in retraction [hot->cold] = 12,3 ohms at 7 minutes ; 12,4 ohms at 9 minutes ; 12,7 ohms at 12 minutes ; 12,8 ohms at 14minutes ; 13 at 17 minutes ; 13,1 ohms at 20 minutes

tocoo, as you can see, the qaulity contlor is exact in the China facotry. Each comes out exactly the smae.

Thank you kind sir. l:)------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are the results of my test on two chokes auto-enricher from the unbridled [black lid] carburetor ohms in retractation before the erection = 8,9ohms time to erect [hot] = 2min ohms in erection [hot] = 4,2 ohms time to retract [hot->cold] = 6--7 minutes ohms in retraction [hot->cold] = 5,7 ohms at 7 minutes ; 6,2 ohms at 9 minutes ; 6,7 ohms at 12 minutes ; 7 ohms at 14minutes ; 7,3 at 17 minutes ; auto-enricher brand new from aliexpress ohms in retractation before the erection = 15 ohms time to erect [hot] = 2min ohms in erection [hot] = 10,6 ohms time to retract [hot->cold] = 7--8 minutes ohms in retraction [hot->cold] = 12,3 ohms at 7 minutes ; 12,4 ohms at 9 minutes ; 12,7 ohms at 12 minutes ; 12,8 ohms at 14minutes ; 13 at 17 minutes ; 13,1 ohms at 20 minutes

That was a joke. You were spozta smile at my obvious misspelling, etc. Just like the quality control evidenced by the varying readings. Remember, there is also a 5W resistor tagged onto the choke heating element, which may not be so well controlled. Ceramic or cement resistors are 'all over the place' as far as their accuracy. Might behoove to measure without the resistor in circuit. Or maybe that was already taken into account. tom

A resistance measurement will tell you almost nothing about the choke operation other than if the resistor or connections to it is broken. The only real test is to remove the unit, connect it to a 12VDC power source and check to see if the 'tit' physically moves as outlined by scootertedYou can google for info about how the enricher works.

I am surprised at the ohmic changes while heating. I would have thought a common coil was involved and not have a thermistor effect. I've yet to find that giant 5w resistor in my scoot's wiring but it haven't looked to hard for it since it all seems to work so well as it is and it starts fine at 40F and colder than that is to cold for these old bones to go riding. Think chill factor.
