Hi, When i start my Kymco Like 2 Stroke 2014, the motor turn very fast, too fast i think.? But when the motor is hot, the idle speed is normal (1600rpm)!?
The original carburator didn't have air screw adjustement .
Is it normal or what i need to do?
My video!

I have the same problem on my S50. I think maybe the starter jet is too big but there's no way to replace it on a Kiehin NCV 20 carb. Any ideas out there?

It sounds lean, thus the run away speed..If it were rich a nice '4 stroke' sputter would be had, just what a cold 2 stroke needs...I would locate the enricher orifice and open it up .003-.004" and see how it acts then..The tree huggers mandate a super lean start for "pollution concerns" and are not worried about the engine destroying itself...

No doubt your right, but I,ve no idea where the orifice is or how to open it .003" is that thousants of an inch? for some one who probably uses metric.

I was finally able to see your video and mine isn't anywhere near as fast. Mines only about 3300rpm. It then settles down perfectly.

Thats how it is on a gy6 carb so at a 2014 model that's probably the case for your carb. EPA likes to hide normal user adjustments.
Many ways to pop that cap loose but just take it easy and go slowly with it so nothing else gets messed up. Dremel with cut off wheel (use eye protection) , drill a hole in it and pry it out or tap it with a small hammer & punch to knock it askew and then pry it out. I drilled a hole in mine with a small drill press to get in there and pry it out. Flush the area with carb cleaner after to help wash away any stray metal bits.
Good luck
Greg
OOPS!, just a little too late here.
