Hi, When I took off the stock exhaust, I didn't notice any exhaust gasket. No ring, no anything. I got the ring and as well as a gasket but wasn't sure if I need the ring on an after market exhaust. Any advice would be appreciated. This is the gasket. This is the ring. It came with the BBK and I have a couple more that came with spare gasket sets. Thanks

I use a gasket like the one you pictured.

I used the silver one instead of the ring. Seems good. No leaks.

I left whatever was there in place. Did not replace the gasket or ring. Hold the pipe up onto the studs, supporting the muffler end on a foot or block of wood, shoe box, etc., and start the acorn nuts. Feed the pipe up so it is flat on the exhaust port, hold it tight in place, flat, while tightening the nuts. Wiggle the muffler, using pressure to move it so the mounting bolts can both be threaded correctly. Tighten as needed. If you don't mess up the old, the new should not be needed. The studs and nuts are provided for the situation where the old exhaust has rusted in place and the fasteners get mucked. It may be that the flanged on the exhaust pipe on some has a recess machined in place where the copper colored ring can reside and form a seal. I know not. tom
