I bought a new Malossi variator kit for my Kymco Like 49cc 2 strokes. My scooter it's all stock 49cc but without restriction .. The Malossi variator comes with a white spring and 9.0g rollers. Is it's too much for my 2 stroke 49cc motor??? Keep original spring or install the white one from Malossi?
Originally my scooter came with 8.3g rollers.
Thank`s for help.

The white spring and the rollers are a place to start. Then work down on the rollers and find the right weight for you and your scoot. Buried in here Brent talks about how to tune your CVT. There are too many variables for someone to give you magic numbers and weights. I find the Malossi kits give you a good starting point.

While the variator will give you a faster pickup the 50cc and stock pipe will leave you flat and wanting more power. get a pipe and 70cc kit. Wake that scooter up.

I would install the complete kit, then ride it for an extended ride. After that, swap the rollers to the stock ones (if they are the same size as the new malossi ones; sometimes they come with different size weights) and see how it shifts. I bet they put the 9g rollers in there for a reason haha.

After i try the 8.3g, little bit faster on acceleration, little speed loss and the engine revolutionizes little more. For now i keep the 9G on the variator. Sure, nex step is 70cc kit!

Then you can start all over tuning your CVT.

I install a digital RPM on the scooter today. I try many mix of rollers weight this weekend. With a stock 50cc what is the maximum rpm musy the engine turn at top speed? 7000-8000rpm???
