Hello All,
After getting the jets sorted (see signature) everything had been running good for the past few days. Even today until I tried to fix some other things.
I took the rear plastic off so i could fix the seat latch and replace the gas sensor. Well, the bulb/float came off the end of the sensor and ended up in the gas tank. I guess it floats right? I put on the new one, it works good. i fixed the seat latch then noticed some gas around the engine plastic.
It appeared to be coming from this hose.
I checked the lines from the carb and decided to shorten the one with the spring on it. It was way too long and so was the spring so I shortened those and fastened it with a clip. I re-attached the fuel line to the inlet and put the air filter back on.
I went to the gas station to test the new sensor. Oddly enough the engine seems to cut out now. Like it sputters sort of. Ill be going along then blip, seems to cut out.
i checked all the lines again no leaks everything is tight and fuel is flowing. I am not sure what is going on.
EDIT I took the carb out and checked around and sprayed it with the last drop of carb cleaner, then decided to put in a 100 main.
The float looked fine. No passages seemed clogged. When I get more carb cleaner Ill clean it better.
Anyway, so the 100 main jet. It just bogged big time and stalled out. Not the same as the 'cutting out'. I wonder if that float falling into the fuel tank had anything to do with this. I put back in the 96 and waiting for some carb cleaner. I took it for another ride and it is cutting out less. I guess I can replace the fuel line.
The only thing I can think of is something got in the carb or the float in the gas tank is causing the problem. I don't see how shortening the drain hose / spring and putting in a new gas sensor would cause this. I can always disconnect the gas sensor and see. I also have an orange CDI lying around. I guess I could try that when the Sun comes up. Driving at night, (this was my first time doing it on the scooter), seems to be a problem. Wicked glare.
What do you guys think.
