I HAVE JUST CHANGED MY HEAD BARREL AND PISTON WITHOUT DROPPING THE ENGINE OR SHOCK
HOPE THIS MAY PROVE USEFUL TO SOMEONE AND SAVES YOU TROLLING FORUMS FOR AGES
TOLD IN PIC'S AND WORDS.
BEFORE STARTING MOST IMPORTANT THING COFFEE AND MORE COFFEE ( NOT ALL US BRIT'S ARE TEA DRINKERS)
FIRSTLY LOOSEN EXHAUST CLAMP BOLT AT MANIFOLD AFTER REMOVING PLASTIC COVER ONE BOLT ON TOP AND CROSS HEAD SCREW AT SIDE BEFORE REMOVAL OF COVER CHECK THE FUEL PIPE IS OUT OF CLIP ON COVER
NEXT LOOSEN EXHAUST BOLT UNDERNEATH TILL ITS LOOSE. iT WONT COME OUT ALL THE WAY AS WHEEL IN WAY. TWAT EXHAUST DOWNWARDS BY MANIFOLD IF TIGHT WITH SOFT HAMMER THEN IT WILL DROP DOWN OUT THE WAY.
REMOVE HEAD BOLTS AND STUDS. STUDS CAN BE REMOVED BY LOCKING TWO NUTS TOGETHER AND UNSCREWING
IF STUBBORN USE A GOOD ON SNAP ON PIPE WRENCH ( ANOTHER GOOD THING TO COME OUT THE STATES)
THEN REMOVE BARREL AND PISTON. TAKE OUT CIRCLIP ON OUTSIDE OF ENGINE AND PUSH OUT PIN FROM OTHERSIDE.
DONT FORGET A CLEAN RAG TO STOP ALL BITS OR CIRCLIP PINGING INTO ENGINE CRANKCASES
IMPROVISED PISTON RING COMPRESSOR FROM A WIDE ZIP TIE. NORMALLY YOU CAN GET RINGS ON OK WITHOUT BUT LIMITED ON SPACE
CLEAN ALL SURFACES AND FIT BARREL THEN SCREW IN STUDS. THEY APPEAR SAME LENGTH BUT CHECK THE INNER ONES ARE STICKING OUT FURTHER THAN OUTER ONES OR YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE HEAD AND CHANGE THEM ABOUT LIKE I DID.
BEFORE TORQUEING THE HEAD DOWN TWAT EXHAUST BACK ON TO MANIFOLD WITH SOFT HAMMER OR PUSH IT ON DO UP BOLT UNDERNEATH LOOSELY OR ITS A SOD IF HEAD IS ALREADY TORQUED DOWN
THEN TORQUE DOWN HEAD. I THEN WAIT 10 MINS AND DO IT AGAIN. SUPRISING HOW SOME MAY NEED TIGHTENING A BIT MORE EVEN WITH ONLY A SHORT SPACE OF TIME.
KICK BIKE OVER WITH KICKSTARTER MAKE SURE EVRYTHING TURNS OK
REMEMBER TO FIT LONG NUT AFTER TORQUEING THE HEAD WHICH RETAINS PLASTIC COVER BOLT
FIT PLASTIC COVER AND REMEMBER TO PUT FUEL PIPE IN THE SLOT ON COVER IT SITS IN
KICK THE BIKE INTO LIFE AND HEY PRESTO OFF YER GO!
I DID THIS TO MINE AS ITS A 125 AND NEEDED A BIT MORE POWER OF THE 150
I HAVE NOT RIDDEN IT ANYWHERE YET AS NEEDS RE JETTING AND WAITING FOR THEM TO ARRIVE BUT IT RUNS
THERE APPEARS TO BE SO MUCH CONFLICTING INFO ON VARIOUS FORUMS AND AS MY EXHAUST HAS NO CAT, ITS A SITO PLUS I NEED TO START SOME WHERE AND WITH SLOW RUNNING JET,STARTER JET, AIR MONITORING JET, DEFUSER AND THEN MAIN JET!
