have a problem with the above few dys ago. Driving home did not feel right revs dropped slightly and had to feather the throttle to get home. Next day rode a mile and started the same had to keep throttle at low rev's or would cut out at bigger throttle openings like it was a fuel issue. Even changed plug just incase it was that Cleaned carb all appeared ok only to do the same again. Could not find any diagnostics to check combined coil/cdi unit so got a new one. fitted it this evening and situation worse. It has magnified the problem. Bike still starts fine and ticks over but stutters like mad when speed increased. Also changed plug again and will start and tick over fine still to rev it. Could it be the pulse sensor coil not sure how to check this and wondered if it comes with the altenator as all in one. Any help appreciated.

Go to Section 11 here, Brent tells you how to check it.

In other words, can you correlate this happening within say 5-10 miles of adding fuel? If yes, I would suspect contaminated fuel...probably water because it will act just like that. Starts and runs but, when you lean on it..no go and bog or stuttering. Just a guess, of course, but this has happened to me and I thought I might pass it on. Bill

Check the battery voltage before and during cranking then the charging system to verify it is charging, this might seem irrelative but neither will cost you money and a lot of electrical issues start at the battery. The only other thing I can think of is the start plug wire itself, you say you replaced the coil but didnt say if the plug wire was part of the assembly. Good thinking on bad fuel too. Hopefully you'll find the problem soon and post more pictures of your rides thru the countryside.
