There are two washers in my variator. Does anyone know which one or both are the restrictng ones? Thank you.

The fatter one definitely is a restrictor washer, you can see how restrictive by how much of the variator isn't being used. The other one may be, the only way to know is if removing it doesn't let the nut go on properly. A picture of the variator installed would be helpful.

I've put it back together now and I ended up removing the fatter washer and leaving the thinner one as I couldn't tell whether splines were sticking out past the kick start thing so I thought I'd better be safe than sorry. Here is a couple of pictures of the variator before disassembly.

Try it with the thinner washer in. You'll definitely see a gain. mark your variator and see how much belt travel you get now.
