I got so frustrated months ago I parked the bike and moved on to a 150cc Lancer. The lancer runs good stock and will most likely stay that way. Besides new paint, a five batteries cell and gizmos...
My wife wants the gt5 to ride with me. I just learned today that the flywheel t was off at tdc so I changed it. I put a new kit and manifold on today. I put in a smaller jet.
Still does the same thing, if I give it too much throttle it goes like a ricer with rev limiter. Rev rev rev. If I only give it 1/4 throttle it takes off and spins up fine.
This is my third time rebuilding the bike with the same outcome. I've cleaned to hell out of the carb. I'm guessing its getting too much fuel. The spark plug has been black.
I'm guessing I'll buy a new carb and jet kit. New fuel lines too. I'm gonna use your propane method to look for leaks later. What a bummer to keep pouring money into this nightmare.
Forgot to add it has the a9 cam and I don't know if a9 and two small holes should be top or bottom at tdc.

The center hole on the a9 cam cam can typically* be placed at the top or the bottom while at tdc. Just make sure the two radial holes are aligned with the top of the head. The center hole of the cam will control what is tdc of the compression stroke. *assuming youre engine has a wasted spark ignition, which is when your spark plug fires each revolution rather than just on the compressiin stroke. If your coil pickup reads off the crank you most likley have this. Like this.

If its not the cam it sounds like the main jet to me.

Found a crack in the cheapy plastic intake gasket. So tired of these. Even not over torquing them I've been through a hundred over the past 8 years.
Links to steel 50cc intakes needing no gasket(cept paper)? I got a couple 150cc steel intakes needing no cheapy plastic plastic gaskets but the 50cc carbs don't match.
Thanks for replies.
Edit: Single line intakes. I did away with the Y connectors years ago. It was one less problem.
