I guess i should start off by saying my bike is a mess.
My electric start flat out is dysfuntional and I rely heavily on my kick start.
Tuesday night I was coming home from work and stalled out. I got really pissed off and slammed my kick lever, I got it started but when I went to try to head to work today my kick lever jammed and I couldnt start it.
Luckily I was able to get a ride but I have work tomorrow too.
I think it jammed at least, i'll kick it down and then it'll get stuck down. And then I'll have to manually pull it back up, and it doesnt start the engine.
My kick lever and brand new and I have a new bolt as well. What can I do to fix it? Thanks in advance (:

I would start by pulling the cvt cover and inspecting the kickstart assemble. It may be out of place (90gtvert has an excellent video assembling it). Or broke, they can be a week link.

This happened before once but putting the new lever on fixed it for some reason. Hoping that its just out of place.

Not sure about the other models but the 50cc Tao Tao kick starts are not very durable. Mine broke after normal use. Later when browsing an on-line manual, I read it was for emergencies only.
I just took mine off.

I use my kick start all the time on my cheap Chinese 49cc scoot. Check out Brent's video as suggested and also make sure that your lever is at about the 1:00 position on the shaft so you get a good crank of the engine when you kick it. When I got mine, the lever was set at about the 5:00 position and it barely turned over the scoot and it also made you put too much pressure on the cvt case at 6:00. The guy I got my scoot from said the kick start never worked and all I did was move the lever like I suggested, and lubed the inside a little and it has worked fine ever since. It actually starts most of the time on one kick whereas if I use the electric, it might crank for maybe 5 seconds before starting. As has been posted above, these kicker units are not over built and you must treat them with care but, with a little tlc, (and Brent's video) you can keep them working for you.

I have mine at about 3:00 could that be the issue?

I have mine at about 3:00 could that be the issue? Well, it may not be the issue but, it is sure not helping you start it unless you pump it up to the compression stroke each time before you kick it...even then you are not giving the crankshaft much of a turn. Check out Brent's video on these kick starts and you do need to lube these on a fairly regular basis..(I keep my scoot outside covered up but, I have to ride in the rain sometimes so that probably requires more lube than if garage kept and no rain riding) not too much or you will have lube all over inside the cvt case which will make your belt slip. I can tell when mine needs a little lube because after kicking it...the lever is slow to return back to 1:00 or sometimes even sticks and has to be pulled up. A little lube and it is as good as new. Bill Hi again! So a couple things, pretty sure my spring is snapped. I havent opened up yet but I think that's whats going on. In gonna but a new kick mechinism and install it. Hopefully it's a little more durable. My electric start has a 50 50 chance of working so I plan to use kick on a daily basis. How often do you lubricate and what do you use? Thanks, -Cam

I use a little silicone spray from the outside of the cvt case around the bushing and a very light spray on the inside of the case around that bushing and shaft. I have a tiny bit of grease, the same I use on my clutch torque sheave and my starter bendix, on the toothed part of that cam and the gears. I add the grease maybe once/year and the spray, like I said, whenever it begins to show signs of not returning quickly and freely...maybe need that about once every few months or so. I seem to get caught in the rain a lot these days so I might need it more often than some other folks. You do NOT want to overlubricate inside the cvt case at all. It will cause your belt to slip if it gets on there or your pulleys.

I think I was told to use graphite grease for the kick star, but I use universal grease with lithium.
Alos, once, I forgot the put back the plastic washer and the kick was blocked

Well all they had at that store was white lithium grease. It took an 8mm socket. I removed these 8 bolts. Then removed the washer and c-clip Using these funky pliers in the middle Then I removed the old kick start parts. There wasn't anything wrong with them. It looked like the gear just slipped or something. But I put in the new parts using this video as guide. I set the lever to 1 o-clock after putting the CVT cover back on. All good. You got this camryns, just make sure you have vice grips and that weird tool to remove the c-clip. It takes about an hour.
