Well, here I am again having trouble with my 49cc Tao Tao scooter that I put a 100cc BBK in. It all started with a dead battery, so I purchased one. Then I had a no start which I solved with a 12v rectifier regulator, then the scooter started and stalled started and stalled. I checked the airbox and found it loaded with acorns, I only had the airbox on for the clip that holds on the rear fender, I checked every wire for signs of mice chewing wires and found 2, so I fixed them. Then I took the carburetor off and found signs of stale gas. Instead of rebuilding, one I put the 18 mm stock carb that came with the scooter, oh that did not work because of the 100 BBK I put in, so I purchase a 20mm carburetor and put that in. Now I at the stage on what size jet to use and how much air to go into the carb, because it runs like sh--t.

You got the 20mm carb already?
Are you asking what size jet to use? Whats your biggest jet?

90 and up is a good place to start with a 100cc kit.
My Bentelli with 100cc BBK and cam is still going STRONG after about 4,000 miles.
But I still have the stock airbox on mine. I did change the filter element inside to High Flow unifilter foam tho. Every single thing you chane will likely require a jetting re-adjustment.
Getting it dialed in properly after adding a BBK or cam is NOT ALWAYS EASY !!!!

Thanks for the advice. I went for a ride and it takes off slow and seems like there should be more top end, like more power. after about a 20min ride it seemed to bog down the more I twisted the throttle, and smoothed out the less I twisted the throttle. I have a 20mm carburetor I have a Naraku clutch with the red springs inside, and the black 1000 rpm spring, I should put the yellow 1500 spring back in. I have 3-2gram weight and 3-8gram weight inside the Variator. I have the racing CDI in with the high-performance ignition coil wire, and Iridium spark plug. A Kevlar belt. I have a UNI pod filter, Oh and I have a 90 main jet. I do not know what to order for the slow Idle jet, can someone recommend the exact thing top order?. I have the mighty max gel battery. I replaced the fuel and airlines, and filter, and shut off valve. A high-performance starter relay and solenoid.A new Magneto. A new starter clutch Bendix, and starter motor. So as you can see I have spent a lot of money and I just can not stop here. I guess I will have to keep trying to try jets and would like some advice on the slow jet information, oh and I bought a new speedometer to read MPG, and a new key switch that got broken on delivery. Its Wednesday the 4th of July and I just came back from a 20 min ride, well it went well the first 10-min then it began to lose power, and a ticking noise was coming for the left lower side around the variator cover, like a said before when it starts losing power it bogs out and decreasing the throttle makes it go away, its hard to explain I wish I had a video camera. At the start of the ride, I could spin the tires in the dirt so I thought GREAT I fixed it, NOT,and yes I did cut a hole in the variator cover to let heat out

I have a 50mm bbk, uni and cone filter and exhaust. My main is 98 and pilot 37 (18mm carb) It is configured rich. I'll go back go back to 95/35 when the break in is over. You can order pilot and main jet kits then order single jet sizes to fill any gaps in the kit. Jets I found useful: Main jet: 92 through 105 in the smallest increments possible Pilot jet: 33 through 38 in the smallest increments possible These are of high quality for cvk style carbs www.partsforscooters.com/114-38_Hoca-Idle-JetYou can never have too many jets.
