I'm installing a bbk on Monday and and curious about the break in procedure. I've read a few different things but want to get you guys opinion, I've got experience with modding 2 strokes, but this will be my first 4 stroke build. Please give me your advice, thanks.

Idk. Ive been doing 2 pulls at 1/4 throttle each followed by engine braking. 2 pulls at 1/2 followed by engine breaking. And so on until full throttle.
Then i change the oil at 20 chinameters and again at 100.
All trying to keep in mind that for the first 100 or so you shouldnt keep the throttle and or engine speed at the same position for too long.
Edit: i also set the carb to run rich for the first 100.

What I did was tune the carb to be rich to keep temps down and use 1/4 throttle to 30mph and gently slow down 2 times, let it cool and repeat it 5 times.
After that I changed the oil with fully synthetic as always
I took it easy avoiding more than 1/2 throttle for long periods for 100 miles, then just avoided WOT for a extended periods of time for the next 200 miles. After that i Changed the oil again, adjusted the valves, and re set the carb tune back to "normal".

Wow! I'm used to 2 strokes, just doing a few quick heat cycles then ride like normal! This is really going to be a test of my patience!

I really doubt its that important.
I didnt bother with heat cycles. I put the first 20 on right away.

You are gonna get 10,000,000 opinions on break in. Last one I did (87' Spree with BBK), I ran it with pilot and main jets that were richer then needed, and I slammed it full throttle all the way from the bike shop till I got in town, which was about 3 miles, and from there it was stop and go traffic all the way home. I then put 2 tanks worth of 80:1 in the tank with the oil pump (2 stroke BTW), after 2 tanks, I switched to 96:1 in the tank with the pump. After which, I tuned the carb jets, ran it for another tank, verified my plugs were looking good, examined cylinder wall with endoscope, looked good, cracked open a beer like I was Stone Cold Steve Austin, and celebrated.

Get it dialed in , ride easy for about 30-50 miles , change oil & ride it like ya stole it! I use to go batty during break ins back in the day , the less i fuss over it the better it turns out. But thats what works for me..
