So I garbage picked this sweet ride with 1000 miles on it. It was garage kept and looks to be in good shape. The prior owner said it last ran 4 yrs ago. So this is what I’ve done so far... new battery, new ignition coil, new cdi, new spark plug(with a spark), new carburetor(with a manual choke), replaced all the fuel lines and switched the fuel to premix 40:1(I disconnected the oil sensor). The cylinder gets 95 compression (new cylinder kit on the way). When the bike is kick started it turns but never combustion.. does anyone have any tips or tricks they can share?

Welcome to the forum, this is the place to get you sorted I,ve got to go now but I,d wait till the new cyl kit is fitted and see what the compression is 95 seems low.Meanwhile check out the technical section and make a leak tester while your waiting. Some pictures always help.

Since my last post I put a new new cylinder kit. The compression is up to 125. I replaced the reed valves since I had it apart. Still no response. Ive tried to take the carb off and spray starter fluid directly into the intake manifold while kicking the bike with no response. I do have a beautiful blue spark on the plug. The only thing I can think of is the timing is wrong causing it to spark when the piston is pulled back. Does this sound like it possibly could be my issue? If so any advice of how to test the timing?

Try the starter fluid with the carb in place.

champ, what condition is the air box/filter in it needs to be clean, complete and in place when you kick it over. The timing might be out but it,s unlikley.

There is not an air filter on the carb. I was planning to put one on once I got it running. Is there a way to post videos on the threads?

Is there a way to post videos on the threads? If you're on the mobile version, scroll down to the very bottom - tap Desktop - tap the movie icon (it's the 6th button from the right. To get back to mobile version scroll down to bottom of page - tap mobile version in center.

champ, you will need to fit an air filter assy there is a chinarelli type available for around $20 there,s no point trying without it fitted, don,t fit an open filter or a sports one.And no I.m not sure why but these engines need the filter on.
