Not as good as other filters. "Sufficient" is relative though.

This would make a nice air intake scoop for my cvt case. It does not look like it has enough filtration for a street scooter, maybe for running on a track and being replaced every race it is ok...I am not sure.

Yeah I thought so my self, so I went ahead and glued a piece of malossi red sponge at the end. But the bike seems to run a bit "sluggish" at higher revs. I'm wondering if the bell mouth has enough surface area to let the bike breath? Or if covering the end with red sponge is too restrictive to allow enough air through?

Even though you would be blowing the reverse direction the air would be flowing into your carb. the flow restriction, if any, should be the same. If you have much trouble blowing air through it, your engine will have problems getting enough air in and this could drive your mixture to be a lot richer. Those do look nice though. Bill

Bell mouths are meant to be used in conjunction with an airfilter, like a unifilter. Strap the filter down to the bell mouth edge. Looks funny but works great.

Hello again. Just out curiosity, do think it would be okay to run with the metal mesh "filter" if the bell mouth, was drawing air from the seat bucket/trunk? You see I got it attach at the end of a radiator hose like this one : www.shop.theruckshop.com/TVR-AIR-INTAKE-SYSTEM-HONDA-RUCKUS-MET-ZOOMER-TVR-INTAKE.htm?categoryId=-1The tube is really sturdy so if I just pointed it upwards and drilled/cut a hole under the seat, I could draw slightly less dirty air I would reckon. What do you think? Also how long do you think the intake runner should be? radiator hose plus bell mouth? I'm affraid if I make it too long, it would slow down the air delivery too much at higher rpms.

You're better off with a real filter. I'd expect minimal to no noticeable gains vs a tuned setup with an air filter / airbox, but with the downside of increased wear from whatever makes it through the screen and into the engine.
