I'm really struggling to get my flywheel off. My scooter has no spark and I've tried 2 plugs, 3 coils, and 3 CDI's. I'm almost certain it's a bad stator but the 139qmb flywheel pullers I've bought just won't thread. The size is very close to being correct. I've also tried a harmonic balancer puller with no success. At this point, I'm beyond frustrated and considering ordering a new motor. Its the oddball Baja SC50 (QJ)139QMB-3. If I don't get this thing off soon I may order a long case 139QMB. I can't find any info online about whether the QJ uses a different flyqheel than the standard 139QMB

PB Blaster and some heat should help with a puller like this:https://www.harborfreight.com/bolt-type-wheel-puller-set-62620.html. You need to get bolts that fit your flywheel but that should do the trick.

If there is a set, pair or triplet, of threaded holes in the flywheel, you should be able to use a standard puller to remove the flywheel. If you do use one, be sure to protect the end of the crankshaft to avoid damage to the threads. Tighten the puller to where you are comfortable, and give the end of the puller screw a GOOD whack. Don't be shy about tapping on the end. WHANG it. tom

Good Luck!! I have a 2006 sc50 and had the same problem. I spent weeks trying a number off different tools in the end their is nothing a sawsall or die grinder can't handle! Just be careful, now having said that i was not bright enough to look up a replacement before I chopped mine up and just like the tool, the magneto and stator are equally impossible to find. Can't find one with the same wiring.as the sc50. The reason I even needed to take it off was because of metal shavings that got in the case during case boreing. I didn't want to chance it with damaging crank bearings. So now having access to the cranks bearings Im glad I checked because I could here very minor scratching in the bearings. But guess what? That's right impossible.to find the correct size bearings and you can completely forget about finding a replacement crank if you mess up the end of the crank when pulling off the stator. In the end I bought a used "standard" 139qmb. Keep in mind that the sc50 is a DC fired engine. I of course didn't and purchased an engine that is AC fired which is what brought me here trying to figure out all that needs changed since I will be receiving my AC fired engine on saturday I'm really struggling to get my flywheel off. My scooter has no spark and I've tried 2 plugs, 3 coils, and 3 CDI's. I'm almost certain it's a bad stator but the 139qmb flywheel pullers I've bought just won't thread. Making your own flywheel puller would be a lot cheaper then buying a new engine. You already have plenty of holes to use in the fly wheel. Just gat a tap for a thread you do have and retap the holes to that thread. If you already have a pulley puller, it’s nothing to drill a couple holes with the same spacing as the holes you tapped in the flywheel and put a couple of screws thru those holes into the flywheel. Just tighten the center bolt and the flywheel will pop off

Is it a minarelli flywheel? I thought those motors had jog-clone-style cvts, maybe the ignition is jog-clone-style too? I would try a flywheel puller for a minarelli/jog motor.

Also, you know the flywheel is a backwards thread right? Lefty TIGHTY righty LOOSEY on the flywheel threads, normal on the nut.

If you cannot get it fixed, buy a new engine, box up the old one in the new box, and ship it to me. I'll see if I can find a use for it, or fix it. Remember, left hand threads are used in this application... if you can't get your (special gy6/139qmb)puller to thread in properly. tom
