...there's a mix of old veterans and and young kids that don't really know/are learning how to tune, they all mostly just want to wrench and be part of something. I do like this point, we all at some point had to learn how to clean our carbs, experience spark knock, have a couple seizes, lose compression, chase airleaks in our cases, blow an oil or coolant seal, tune the cvt wrong, and get completely pissed at the ignition system at some point during our experiences owning small motor vehicles. We all had to learn. I think a lot of us venture into this not fully realizing how much we will need to learn how to do it ourselves or else have to rely on someone else. I think that these kids, though, believe that the internet has all the answers and will hook them up with the biggest most badass setup fresh out of the gates. Perhaps thats their issue. They dont start with crawling before they learn to walk, they expect that a little reading and they'll be off and running. The guys i learned from (years ago) made me earn it. I honestly didnt know wtf i was doing or if i was doing it wrong. I didn't have money to throw into tons of fancy parts. Hell, i didnt even know i could get loads of fancy upgrades for a chinese cateye pocketbike. I just had to dig for it. When they moved out of the neighborhood, i was on my own. But i learned more purely by breaking it and trying to learn why it broke. I definitely respect an engine these days because of that piece of junk cateye. Only since getting into scooters have i realized the universe beyond me - in upgrades. The honda met/ruck guys here, mad respect to you. You guys build some stellar eye candy that rolls well. The 2smokers have a serious addiction to speed, but you do it well! And 4pokes? Well, lets just do the best we can, we cant all be 2strokes!

I don't know who you are running into out there to draw this sort of post. I've met a large portion of the group (big ride this past Sunday)...As far as builds, I've personally clocked a couple of 72ccs with small riders going mid to high 70s in a full tuck. It's rather impressive since the fastest 125cc stroker I've encountered hit 82. It's also obvious that you ride a Honda Elite or a SYM dd50. Have you ever been on the other side of the fence? Getting punked out by Elites and dd50's when my Ningbo GTX was stock. Getting reved at. How they pull up on you, start braaping the throttle at you, then pulling away and doing the look back. How does that earn any respect? That's like picking on a kid or an old man. I was always minding my own business when the SYMs and Hondas did such antics when my Chinarelli was stock. I didn't start the battle, but Imma damn well see it through. I got tired of getting reved at and toyed with. So I jumped on the forums. I read. I researched. I built. I failed. I tuned and understood. I didn't ask the forums to spoon feed me information. I'm sure you feel the way you do about the big Sunday group of Hondas because you fit in with them. If you rode in my shoes, you would have seen how disrespectful those types can be to others. That's the main reason I bumped up to a 90 block. I was tired of the bullying, that shit's disrespectful. So I purposely built up my Chinarelli to race the street Elites and the tide has turned. Young bucks trying to compete with a machinery mechanic/machinist that was clocking 80 hours regular pay and 88 hours overtime at $55 an hour in a 2 week period, I had lots of disposable income in pour into my bike. Self taught. Self tuned. Bottom line, they no need act like punks and discriminate. Respect should be shared among all 2 wheel riders.

I was at one end of the line you saw on the beach I do own a pair of DDs, also a Zuma and, before it was stolen, a GTX. I've ridden the Zuma on rides a couple of times now with the Hondas, got razzed a little for how 'fat' it is, but it was all in good fun. Maybe I just have a different outlook, and don't let myself get too worked up when guys act like that/want to race, I'm not really on the road for that. If they do something dangerous, then maybe I would, but I'm mostly out there to enjoy the ride. Just throw the shaka and move on, don't need to show up anyone else. I mostly ride in town, so I guess the guys you encounter out in the country act up a little more. Either way, I know I probably won't gain the respect of everyone, and I'm fine with that.

I was always minding my own business when the SYMs and Hondas did such antics when my Chinarelli was stock. Oh no, I'm that guy. I love to race rental 4Ts on my 100cc 2T. I would race a child or an old man (or an old man with a child on the back) on a stock 4T with a vacuum leak and an almost flat tire. I rev it up at every scooter I see or take off from a light with them. I absolutely will do it to things faster than me too though. Last time T2 was out I was revving it at a Viper and I tried to race a girl on a 250 Ninja. To me it's not bullying and I'm not looking for anyone's respect. It's more of my way to say "let's play". Just be happy you have scooters around to taunt you. I have to ride 70 miles each way just to find any scooter to play with.

Thanks for bringing it into perspective. 70 miles to find another scoot is pretty harsh. And here I am complaining about all these Oahu scoots that are also out there looking to play. Thanks for bringing that up 90GTVert, a different perspective.

Roger that islandscrub. I enjoy the riding part. Exactly like how you said, we ride and throw the Shaka at other guys on street bikes, Harleys, and other moped riders on Elites and SYMs. It is one of the nicest feelings about cruising Oahu on a 2 stroke and both riders passing each other and throwing up some Aloha. I'd rather not "race" on the streets. I don't mind "running" with other mopeds when the time and place will afford us to do it safely and without us pissing off motorist. Most motorists on Oahu hate mopeds, so I'd rather not draw heat. I have run with quite a bit of SYMs and Hondas between Kaneohe and Kahuku. Moments where we randomly came across each other on the road and we all greeted each other the "howzit" head nod, and then the road opened up with no cars in front of us, and the high speed running began, no one trying to pass each other, just all of us in a single file running at high speed together. And in the end, when either me or the Hondas had to peel off, everyone beeps and throws up the Shaka to say Aloha. That's what I like. That's awesome. I guess it boils down to moped maturity level. Thanks for sharing your input. I understand where you are coming from. Trust me, I admire the SYMs and Hondas here for the most part. People build some really neat bikes here. I look at it as Artwork and I respect artists. The variety of styles are amazing too, the chrome guys, the wheel guys, the cherry body panel guys, and the fancy paint guys. I think my girlfriend wanted me to pull into Sandy's when all the mopeds were lined up. I think she wanted to take a picture of the line up, add to that it was a gorgeous day. So if you have some pictures of that line up from Sunday, please post some pics on this thread if you don't mind. It looked like over 50 bikes were lined up and I'm pretty sure it made for some nice pictures.

I'm not much of a picture taker, but I do have a couple pics of some radiator fronts that I found interesting. My one picture of the whole lineup is terrible, so I'll ask someone else in our group if they got a good one.
