Hello riders! I have an issue with a bore kit I've installed ~200km ago. Once I took off the head of my cylinder I've noticed that there is a strange carbon deposit on the side of the exhaust. It's thin and goes around on the bottom half of the 'head. Here, take a look: ibb.co/jDuQHT2 stroke 80cc bore kit; minarelli engine. What could be the issue? Thanks! EDIT: Also, scooter is hard to start while hot. Quick stop to the gas station requires 10 kicks for a scooter to get running. When I fitted the bore kit I haven't measured and filed the ring end gap. When inside cylinder the ends of the ring were touching. Maybe this contributes to the issue.

It's not really an issue, carbon deposit buildup is quite normal on a 2t head. It starts to build up on the exhaust side. You can reduce it by using synthetic 2t oil instead of mineral.

It's not really an issue, carbon deposit buildup is quite normal on a 2t head. It starts to build up on the exhaust side. You can reduce it by using synthetic 2t oil instead of mineral. You see, I am using the best synthetic oil there is. The carbon deposit is quite thick and previously there was none on another bore kit even after 500km. And another issue i am facing is that it is hard to start while hot. A quick stop to fill up gas and it needs 10 kicks to get it running. Maybe these two are related? When I fitted a piston ring, I forgot to file the ring end gap. It was a tight fit. The ends were touching when placed inside cylinder. Maybe this is what causes all that.

If it hasn't done anything in 200km then maybe you'll get lucky and they've worn, but I don't like the idea of rings with their ends butted together. Could lead to serious issues. I'd be much more worried about that than carbon on the head (which is pretty normal).

I had super thick carbon deposits when I ran Lucas 2 stroke oil. I couldn't figure it out. So later I switched to a 50/50 mix of Redline racing oil and Motul 710. I have a 90cc but I still use the oil injection pump for simplicity.
In regards to the 10 kicks to fire up when warm is quite odd. Are you running a stock type carb with electronic enricher?

Just a stock carb without any electronic enrichers. As mechanical as it gets.

When you first start the scooter when its cold and sitting for days, does it smoke a lots ? I am talking James Bond smoke screen a lot.
Also is this a horizontal stroke engine?
