Have anyone tried to remove some material from the piston to make it lighter?

Wow, you dancing with the devil if you try that. Looking at the pistons, there seems no extra material used when they are cast & machined. I'd be hesitant to taking a cut on the crown due to concern with the remaining thickness. I'd be hesitant to fiddle with the skirt areas due to thinness of the metal and concern with side-load of the piston against the cylinder wall overcoming leading to a collapsed piston. What's left is the 'boss' for the wrist pin. How much can be removed? Dunno. Perhaps drilling some holes in the skirts would reduce the total weight without compromising integrity. I am too lazy to try, and don't want to go through the R&R hassle. tom

just grind the bottom of the skirt down its a $0.43 Chinese piston. I am certain its not factory balanced. if it pukes just spend $30 on another piston and cylinder and leave it alone
