So I bought a moped today. Needs some work because the stupid person that owned it decided that he could just tear the plastic apart and hot wire it. And ofcourse, he just cut thru all the wires after he couldn’t get it to turn on using a screw driver
so I have a new switch on the way, but I’m dying to soup it up a bit. I have already put an upgrade carb and Re meted to use with a pod filter ( using an 80 jet btw). Before stupid destroyed it, that “cured” its lean run problems. It used to speed up if you closed the throttle a little and a pure white plug. Ow runs about 5 mph faster and I get the classic tan plug.
So anyway, I bought this from stupid for $50 in non running condition.
i would like to go to a big bore kit and a cam. I’d like to get a kit that includes a new head. I thought I was set on the cam, but I read that some of the new cams won’t fit in the heads (bearings to large). I’m also a little worried reading about people buying the cams, and have the bearings explode after a while.
So, as I’m new to this scooter stuff, I’m looking for some sugestions

Congrats. Some of those IceBears have nice features. Definitely do the BBK and cam. world of difference. Dont worry too much about the cams. Just go to PartsforScooters or ebay and get a kit with good feedback and an A9 cam. I doubt you'll have any problems.
Stock piston is 39mm. Most people go with 47mm (72cc) or 50mm (83cc). If you're heavy, the 50mm kit is great for pulling torque. If you don;t push it hard, that's a great choice. If you tend to ride it like you stole it, you might want to go with a 47mm kit.
Have fun no matter what.

I was thinking I’d go with one of the 80 cc kits. I mean if I’m doing this, why not have something that will stay around for a while. I’m thinking I’ll just get one of the kits that comes with the cam. I just discovered they make a striker crank. But that would be more of a winter project I think. Next I have to do some reading on the trans. I don’t know if there is any way to change the final drive radio. Jus seems to me that you can build the heck out of the engine but you will only g so fast because oe gearing. Just doing this for the fun of it, I mean I have a couple of & l M/C
