Hey folks, long time, no post!!!
Relocated from Tennessee to Florida last year, so I sold my 2 scoots I had up there, as opposed to fighting to get titles on them( they went to good homes)...
Found a local deal on a 06 hyosung sd50..2t,for sure, but what I'm wondering is, are these a minarelli based engine, or a morini based engine???... It's got a clear title, and it's dirt cheap, but I know that the morini engine has far less parts, and upgrade availability for it...
Help a guy out here and gimmie some schooling!!

The SD50 is indeed a Morini engine. Morini engines are the redheaded stepchild as far as mods go. There are parts available just not a lot of choices. That said they are perfectly good engines and the Hyosung scooters are well built and can be made to go faster but not like a Minarelli clone. I currently have 3 scooters with Morini engines but 2 are rare birds so parts are a search. I sold my Hyosung SF50 scoot and the guy was really happy with the way it ran with just CVT mods. If its in good shape and cheap go for it.

Well, passed on this one, when I got there to take a look at it, it was in pretty sad shape ..no loss tho ..
3 days later I ended up buying a SPOTLESS 04 kymco people 50 2t....20k miles on it(36500 km showing) from the original owner, with all paperwork, and still on the original top end!!....not too bad for 500 bucks!
This thing is too nice to mod(yet), so I'm gonna keep it for a street scoot, and hunt down another candidate for a build!!
